School celebrated National
Library Week with a banquet
at the Thunderbird Inn on
April 25th.

The program was sponsored
by the school’s library
assistants and the school
chorus. The theme was Grow
With Books.
Participants in the program
included Miss Eula Tutt, David
Wardlaw, Kellie Pollard, Miss
Carolyn Lake, Pamela Dean,
and Mrs. Margaret Ashcraft.
Miss Tutt is the librarian and
Carolyn Lake is the music
teacher. E.H. Thurmond is the
principal.
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Ends Scholarship Drive
The Eta Theta Zeta Chapter
of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.,
will culminate its third annual
scholarship drive at 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, May 5, in the A.R.
Johnson Junior High School
auditorium. Highlighting this
occasion will be the crowing of
“Miss Bluette,” a tot contest
and a parade of talent from the
The Augusta Chapter of the
Paine College Alumni
Association will host the
annual National Alumni Dance
and Banquet. The dance will be
held on Friday evening, May
17th from 10-2 a.m. and the
The Cadet Corps of
Westside, Richmond Academy,
Laney, Butler, and Josey high
schools held their second
annual Combined Parade at
8:00 p.m. Wednesday 1 May
1974 in the Butler High School
Stadium.

“Since receiving its charter in
February 1969, the sorority
has been striving to give service
to the community. At present,
we are involved with the
Stork’s Nest, for purpose of
Alumni Dance Set For May 17th
banquet will be held on
Saturday evening, May 18th
beginning at 8 p.m. Both
affairs will be held in the
Embassy Room of the
Richmond Motor Hotel. The
banquet will honor those
Cadet Corps Parade
of Education, and Harvey M.
Duncan, superintendent of
schools served as Reviewing
Officers, while members of the
Board of Education served
in the Reviewing Party.
The drill team of each
school will compete during the
parade.
Music will be provided by /
recently on a Bruning Golden
Adventure Cruise.
Thomas flew to the
Miami International Airport,
there he took the Bruning
Charter Flight to San Juan,
P.R. where he boarded the
luxurious Cruise Liner, “Carla
C.,” on a 7 day Carribbean
Cruise to the adventurous Parts
of Curacao, La Guaira,
Venezuela, Martinique and St.
Thomas, V.I.
The trip was won by the
partners of Richmond
Plumbing and Building Supply
due to the amount of
purchases made from Bruning
Paint Company during the last
three months of 1973.
Moxley Honored
Dr. Patricia A. Moxley,
associate dean of the school of
nursing at the Medical College
of Georgia, has been named in
the annaul awards volume,
“Outstanding Educators of
America for 1974-75.”
Dr. Moxley was cited for
exceptional academic
acomplishments and civic
contributions.

the Ob-Gyn clinics. The Stork’s
Nest is sponsored by 818
(Better Infant Births) of the
Augusta area of the March of
Dimes. A portion of today’s
classes graduating in the “4”
and “9” years.
Tickets for these activities
are SIO.OO each and may be
purchased from the Alumni
office or from Mr. Y.N. Myers,
the combined bands of the
participating schools.
Os particular interest is the
fact that the four Services are
all represented, Richmond
Academy and Laney with
Army Units, Butler with a
Marine Unit, Westside with a
Navy Unit, and Josey with an
Air Force Unit.
