OBITUARIES
BERTHA WOODSON
Bertha Woodson, 1105 Miller St.
died Tuesday (May 7) at her
residence.
She was a member of Bethel
A.M.E. Church.
Survivors are her husband, Mr.
Walter Woodson; and her brother,
Isaac Roberson, both of Augusta.
Funeral services were held
Sunday (May 12) at 1 p.m. at
Bethel A.M.E. Church and the Rev.
J.W. Sanford officiated.
Burial was in South View
Cemetery.

Willie Winfield, Jr., 39, of Rte. 4,
Box 230-2 died Sunday (May 12) in
an Aiken County hospital.
He was a lifelong resident of
Aiken County and a member of Mt.
Hill Baptist Church, where he
served as a deacon. ,•
He was employed ’at the Aiken
Electric Co-op.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Sarah
D. Winfield; his mother, Mrs. Ernie
Williams; his stepfather, Mr. Ezeul
Williams, Aiken; sou% sisters,
Justine Winfield and Mrs. Bernice
Johnson, Hartford, Conn., Mrs.
Mabie Moyer and Mrs. Marlize
Glover, Aiken,; and three brothers,
Bennie Winfield, and Richard
Winfield, Aiken, and Cleveland
Winfield, Hartford, Conn.
Funeral arrangements will be

RUDELL RUDLAND
Rudell Rudland, 52, formerly of
Ridge Spring, S.C. died (May 7) in
Neward, N.J.
Survivors are her mother, Mrs.
Leona Rudland, Newark, N.J.; four.-
sisters, Mrs. Eloise Turner, and Mrs. ’
Ethel Austin both of Plainfield,
N.J.; Mrs. Joyce Carey and Mrs.
Henrietta Brown, both of Newark,
N.J.
Funeral services .were held at
12:00 p.m. Sunday (May 12) at the
Pine Hill Baptist Church, Johnston,
and the Rev. J.D. Shaw officiated.
Burial was in the church
cemetery.

HAZEL BEATRICE BROWN
Hazel B. Brown, of 123814 Holly
St. died (May 7) at a local hospital.
She was a native of Augusta and
a member of the Greater Mt.
Cannan Baptist Church and Gospel
Chorus.
Survivors are her mother, Mrs.
Clara Bell Ross; three sisters, Mrs.
Annie Ruth Handy, Miss Frances
Moss, Augusta; and Mrs. Mattie St.
Phurd, Newark, N.J.; two brothers,
Mr. Robert Morton, Augusta, and
Mr. John Ross, Frankfurt,
Germany; uncles, aunts, and a host
of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held
Monday (May 13) at Greater Mt.
Cannan Baptist Church at 4 p.m.
and Rev. N. Irvin and Rev. J.C.
Tro well officiated.
Burial was in the South View
Cemetery.

of Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Roper
died Saturday (May 11) in an Aiken
County hospital.
Survivors are her parents, her
grandfather, Hubert Harris,
Trenton, S.C.; her grandmother,
Mrs. Corinna Hammonds, Johnston;
great-grandfather, Milledge Roper,
Johnston.

p.m. Sunday (May 12) at the Pine
Hill Baptist Church and Rev. J.D.

Rose M. Oliphant, 50, of 442

at an Augusta hospital.
A native of Aiken County, she

Missionary Baptist Church.

Oliphant, St. Albans, N.Y.; and
Robert W. Oliphant, Aiken; two
daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Upson,
