The Junior Chorus of the
Second Ebenezer Baptist
Church will celebrate its 14th
anniversary on Sunday June
23, ay 6:30 p.m.
The Rev. R.L. McCoy
Chorus of the Olivet Baptist
Church will be the guest
chorus. Many other chourses
will also be participating.
Everyone is invited.
Miss Cassandra Lightfoot is
Junior Chorus President.

MRS. L.H. PITTS TO SPEAK
Mrs. Dafferneeze Eleanor
Pitts will speak at Rock of
Ages C.M.E. Church on June
23 at 11:00 a.m. for their
Annual Men & Women
program.
Mrs. Pitts, wife of the late
Dr. L.H. Pitts, is a native of
Greenville, South Carolina. She
is a graduate of Paine College,
and had taught at Miles
College, Birmingham, Alabama;
and has also held the position
as registrar at the same college.
Mrs. Pitts holds membership
with numerous social, civic &
religious organizations. Her
church membership is with
Trinity C.M.E. Church. She has
four children: Mrs. Dafferneeze
E. Johnson, Lucius H. Pitts,
Jr., Etha Paulette and John
Eugene.
Other participants on the
program will be: Mrs.
Clymonteen Jones, Mrs. Carrie
J. Mays, Mrs. Betty J. Moore,
Mr. Quincy L. Robertson, Mrs.
A.R. Latson, Mr. Eddie
Hughes, and Mrs. E.M.
Johnson.

Doris M. Calloway of Augusta
died Saturday (June 15) at St.
Joseph Hospital.
Survivors are her husband Mr.
Lawson Calloway, three daughters,

Emory, Gncinnati, Ohio; and Mrs.
Doris Wilson, Columbia, S.C.; eight
sons, Mr. Oscar Calloway, Mr. Fred
Calloway, Mr. William Calloway,
Reading, Pa.; Mr. Lawson Calloway,
Jr., Mr. Albert Calloway, Mr.
Charles Calloway, Mr. Barry
Calloway, Mr. Robert Calloway,
Reading, Pa.; one brother, John
Martin.
Funeral services will be by Dent’s
Undertaking Establishment.

Jacob Evans of 36 Gentry Lane,
North Augusta, S.C. died Sunday
morning (June 9) at his residence.
• Survivors are his wife, Mrs.
Emma Evans, one daughter, Mrs.
Mary A. Evans. North Augusta; two
sons, William A. Evans, and Leroy
Evans, North Augusta; two sisters,
and four brothers.
Funeral services were held
Saturday (June 15) at 3:30 p.m. at
Carpentersville Baptist Church and
Rev. H.B. Bady officiated.

Emma Boozer Taylor, formerly
of North Augusta died Saturday
(June 15) in Brooklyn, N.Y.
She was a native of Augusta but
had lived in Brooklyn for over 40
years.
Survivors are one daughter, Mrs.
Isabell Cook, Brooklyn, N.Y.; one
brother, Fred Boozer, North
Augusta; two sisters, Mrs. Laney
Boozer, Brooklyn, and Mrs. Willie
Mae Smith, Atlanta, Ga.
Funeral services were held
Wednesday (June 19) in
Hempstead, N.Y.
Nix Funeral Home, Belvedere, is
in charge of local arrangements.

The Acteens program of the
Second Mt. Moriah Baptist
Church provides Bible study,
fellowship, recreation,
educational, cultural, and
social enrichment.
The Acteens are a part of
the young people’s department
of the 10th district Missionary
Conventional of Georgia
working with the young
people.

infirmary.
He was a member of Mims Grove
Baptist Church and served on the
Deacon Board there. He had been
self employed for the past 25 years.
Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Annie
Lou Bright, North Augusta, S.C.,
two sons, Mr. Tom Willie Bright, Jr.
and Walter Bright. New York; one
daughter, Carrie Bright, New York.
Funeral services were held at
2:30 p.m. Sunday (June 16) at
Mims Grove Baptist Church and
Rev. T. Scott officiated.
