From
The Block
To The Hill
By R.L. Oliver
To use a cliche, my friend
Vannie Brown was saved from
the bell, the Bell Clothes For
Men Store on Broad St. He was
on his way to purchase some
shoes, shirts, etc. from Bell
Clothes until 1 informed him
that those folk don’t think
their customers are intelligent
enough to read the
News-Review, and he should
refrain from trading there.
Vannie took his business
elsewhere and Bell Clothes lost
a SSO purchase.
STRANGE, STRANGE,
STRANGE
No one, but no one, at the
Municipal Building seems to
know the ground rules for
residency requirements for the
Georgia House of
Representatives, State Senators
and Richmond County
Commission candidates.
I was seeking this
information last Thursday, but
in vain. 1 got a lot of smiles but
no information. Strange,
strange, indeed.

women who have had a child.
So there is a slight chance that
she could be pregnant. The
only way to be sure is to see a
doctor. The IUD does not
cause damage to the unborn
baby in the rare cases where
pregnancy occurs, but there is
a higher rate of miscarriage
with the IUD in place.
If the pregnancy is carried to
full term, the IUD is usually
expelled at delivery with the
afterbirth.
Dear Mrs. Keyes,
Can a girl get pregnant the
first time?
V.
Dear V.,
Yes, she can. So if you
aren't ready to have a child, it’s
really important to be
protected every time
intercourse takes place.

Mr. G.L. Tarver views ruins of his burned out home.
A fire swept through the

Tarver, 74, lived along in the

Road since his wife died in
1968. The fire took 54 years of
my life’s savings, he said.
The fire started when Tarver
lighted a stove to prepare lunch
