The Augusta News-Review - September 5, 1974
Astrology ,
Today // A
FOR THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 8-14:
ARIES (March 21 - April 20) - You may have some bothersome
days and not quite know how to get through them. Perhaps doing
nothing out of the ordinary is best. Don’t count too much on a
neighbor who may not be as friendly as it seems.
TAURUS (April 21 - May 20) - The time can be ripe to open up a
new phase of your life. Start going to a place you have been
avoiding lately and get the full measure of good from spiritual
and mental activity. You can find yourself surrounded by people
who make you feel stroager.
GEMINI (May 21 - June 21) - It can be time to get into a special
vocational course you have had your eye on. This may not take
much time but can be very concentrated and demand your
utmost attention. Be prepared to devote yourself wholeheartedly.
CANCER (June 22 - July 22) - The month is a good one for
staking out your claims to valuable property and drawing in
financial gains. Turn your head mostly to finances and let the rest
go by while you can save by being thrifty. Control all urges to
spend this month.
LEO (July 23 - August 23) - You can be bored with certain
aspects of your life but must not let this lead you into going out
too much. Heed what your lifemate or romantic companion has
to say and you will pick up a new interest at home. Start some
new reading now.
VIRGO (August 24 - September 22) - You may change your
residence for the better and be happy to find a lucky welcome
awaiting you. This impetuous welcome can lead to a long
friendship but it can have its thorny side for both. You are
destined for some high times and some very low ones.
LIBRA (September 23 - October 22) - You’ll find yourself
automatically forgiven and no words need be exchanged about a
matter of the last week. You can breathe freely again and are
happy that there is enough affection to forgive you without a
word spoken.
SCORPIO (October 23 - November 22) - A busy time when you
can become run down in health from constant work and no
chance to rest, read or watch TV. You may be doing too much
for an ingrate, preparing meals and doing dishes for someone who
will never bother remembering your kindness. Better look over
the situation again.
SAGITTARIUS (November 23 - December 21) - You can make a
bitter enemy now and it is not worth risking; yet, circumstances
can make it necessary to speak in a certain way, even to say
things you would rather not. You must now show anxiety or fear
for any reason. Use your courage fully now.
CAPRICORN (December 22 - January 20) - Buy some clothes to
cheer yourself and make your ego a bit stronger. You need to feel
quite mature and this cycle can help you achieve a new outlook
of more mature ways. You may be surprised when you look back
at some of your more childish traits.
AQUARIUS (January 21 - February 19) - You have much to
ponder and may get nowhere with thought, due to strong,
intrusive emotions and difficulty in getting away from nostalgic
trends. If you have a child that child may be able to tell you the
facts better than you know them yourself.
PISCES (February 20 - March 20) - You can enjoy giving a small
party now and having everything just beautiful for guests to
enjoy. You get your share of life’s pleasure by doing for others
and you have the skill to do it just right.

Opera Season Opens
Grand Opera Season in
Augusta begins September 4
with the Augusta Opera
Company’s production of
Mozart’s COSI VAN TUTTE

performances will begin at 8

Professional singers,
representing the finest young
voices available in America,
will be appearing in the two

Augusta Opera Company lan
Strasfogel has signed an
outstanding cast for both

a group of singers familiar to
opera and concert audiences
throughout America. An
orchestra composed of leading
professional musicians from
symphony orchestras
throughout the south will play
for both productions. Both
COSI and TROVATORE will
be fully-staged utilizing
professionally designed sets,
costumes, lighting, etc.
According to Company

Cares...
In this column we’re
continuing our discussion of
questions relating to venereal
disease. Let me say first that if
you have symptoms you think
may be those of some venereal
disease, you can’t be sure
unless you see a doctor. There
are other minor sexual
disorders which may have
similar symptoms, so you must
be examined by a physician
and in Augusta there are three
places:
1) Your private physician
2) Richmond County Health
Department, 724-8802, Ext.
53 or 54.
3) If you’re female, the
Women’s Health Center,
736-1161
I) If you keep getting the
clap and getting treated for it,
' does this harm you?
The chief danger here is that
if you have continual cases of
VD you may become allergic
to the large doses of penicillin
which are needed to treat it. If
this happens the medicine
could make you quite ill.
II) How long after
treatment of VD can you pick
it up again?
In the male and female
approximately 3 days if it’s
gonorrhea. With syphilis the
medication is usually effective
about 30 days.
III) Is there anything you
can do to protect yourself
against catching it?
In addition to abstinence,
which means having no sexual
relations, there are two other (
possible helps. One is using the
condom or rubber from the ,
very beginning of sexual j
activity. The other is cleansing
carefully afterwards with soap
and water. In the male
particularly this can help
prevent getting syphilis. If the
woman douches after sex, she
lowers the chance of getting
syphilis.
