It’s been three years since big
brother hit the very top . . . Isaac
Hayes with Shaft . . . Hush yo
mouth Joy, Joy. Now there’s
another brother whose sweet pret
ty voice is number 1. This week
riding high over the earth is
Barry White, singing “/ Can't
Get Enough Os Your Love Babe. ”
—And soon to be released coming
at you— “ You’re First, Your Last
—doggonit “Your My Every
thing. ”
“Let This Be A Message To You,”
that’s what the Independance t>ay,
and that’s the latest Chicago thing
to go national.
Somebody said the Four Tops
couldn’t keep on doing it, that
was in 1969, well it’s ten years
before Big Brother starts watch
ing you, and the Tops are doing it
even better than ever, “Wild
Flower” is them, you can hear it
anywhere.
Johnny Bristol hung on in there
SPEAKING OUT Continued from page 4
rather than the honey mouth Bible pounders.
It is equally upsetting to view certain Black preachers debating
Bibical points while their listeners suffer with hunger pains.
Certain Black radio preachers fight about who is going to hell
while their listeners live daily lives in economic and political hells.
Jesus Christ fed the hungry and cared for the body as well as the
soul and more of out Black churches must do the same.
Fortunately, the Black church in general is rising to the occasion
as it has done historically.
The rip offs by the large and greedy oil companies and public
utilities deserve corrective actions by believers and non-believers
in God. These are just other examples of those greedy capitalists
in action as they control selfish politicians.
All things being unequal, it is very comforting to know that
there is a growing minority of Blacks and whites who are
committed to the needed social change in this country. Every
important and needed movement always begin with a small
minority of people who see clearly the paths to follow.
The people who mislead and decline as leaders of our
economic, political, educational and religious social institutions
are no better or worse than the majority of their followers. Only
an enlightened citizenry can produce enlightened leaders. The
need to survive may bring people in this country closer together
than anything else. It certainly must bring Black people together
as never before. No one is innocent and many are guilty but we
are all in this democracy or drown boat together.

LET’S FINISH THE JOB, VOTE FOR GEORGE BUSBEE NOV. 5
George Busbee is the only candidate for Governor who has come out
squarely against new taxes. No if’s,and’sor maybe’s. “We’re not getting our
money’s worth out of the taxes we pay now,” says Busbee. wßwWm JJwr
Another major concern of George Busbee is utility rates, one of the fastest Busbee
growing items in the average Georgian’s budget. When Aworkhorse.
he’s Governor, George Busbee pledges to give the Mot a showhorse,
consumer legal representation in rate cases. “Everybody
has an expert to represent his side, except the group
- the consumer,” points out Busbee.
Any wonder almost everybody’s going for Busbee?

Johnny Bristol and Lamont Doz

If you know good stuff, if you
know who put the B in Boogie,

Bad Brother Brown, and as usual
J. B. got another one “Papa Don’t
Take No Mess” that was yester

your children are?
The Montclair’s came riding out
of the south in February 1974,
they reached No. 7 on the charts
going from city to city, “Making

did she “Feel The Morning Af

This portion of the Black Beat is
“Get Christie Love.”
How do I describe Get Christie
Love. We’ve had Shaft, Julia,
Tenafly, Amos ‘n’ Andy and all
those black Movies. We have
Stanford and Son, “Good Times,”
That’s Mv Mama. But not a “Get
Christie Love.” I don’t even know
the writers, but I would like to
congratulate them for such a fine
performance and good quality
thinking. I especially want to con
gratulate Teresa Graves, for she
makes the black woman style. See
Christie Love styles with pride
gorgeous pride. She struts, she
talks that sugar—in essence she
jives, she’s too much—" Christie
Love” is something new to the TV
screen. She’s a black woman doing
her thing. Like Calvin Lockhart
said she’s so bad I wanna
call her my Miss Black America
. . . year.
"Get Christie Love,” is a new TV
series on ABC Wednesday night
10pm-9 central. Describing “Get
Christie Love,” is like describing
delicious (Highly pleasing). But
you check it out for yourself.
Check this bad Misses out, and if
Christie Love don’t do something
to ya. Something is wrong with
your blackness we as people have
to start supporting our black
pride and our products in the
market place, and in the rating.
You see, nobody is going to give
you nothing you have to support
yourself.
As the Love Unlimited say in
their new LP . . . We—belong to
you.

1. There is a great need for more teacher aides to help our
teachers with children who are slow to learn. This is most
important in grades 1, 2 and 3. These are the grades in which our
children get their background and I feel that it should be the very
best we can offer. Overcrowded classrooms. I plan to help study
this situation very carefully to see what could be done in all areas
of great concern. Our children need ample room in which to
grow, study and play if we expect them to grow up to be happy,
healthy adults. I also feel that we should give consideration to the
students who are above Jr. High level who are unable to function
in a class room. I feel very strong that these students should be
given an opportunity to grow up to be individuals with a trade,
such as one that would be offered in a good Technical Institution.
2. This is a very complex question, and probably has some
merit; however, it will need much study after involving all
employees affected so that we could be fair to all concerned.
