CANAAN HONORS PASTOR IRVIN The Reverend Nathaniel Irvin will be honored Sunday, Feb. 16, at 2:30 p.m. for 16 years of leadership and dedicated service for the advancement of gospel preaching and Christian education. Reverend Sylvester Nabritt and the choir of the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church will be in charge of services. The Reverend Irvin has,' initiated many programs which have proven to be very successful for the church and community such as - Bible study groups which involve about 75 students and 18 adults, active scouting programs, Prayer Bands designed for the young and old, coordinated educational and enrichment tours. In addition to initiating and participating in programs, he has rendered many services in the area of guidance and counseling. Reverend Irvin believes that one of the greatest characteristics of a Christian is helping others. He feels that a Christian must reach out beyond the walls of his own home, community, and church and be concerned with helping all people. Everyone is invited to attend. The meeting is a special effort sponsored by the trustees for the annual building fund rally for the church. Each member is asked to rally in a big way for the church. The hour of service is 7:30 p.m. nightly and enjoy a spiritual feast. The meeting will climax on the fourth Sunday in February with the Church of God in Christ of Gifford, S.C. and their pastor, Elder James Bradham, as special guest. The public is invited to all services. Bishop R.D. Field is the pastor. PASTOR’S ANNIVERSARY SLATED REV. J.C. PHINIZY The Reverend J.C. Phinizy, pastor of Spring Hill Baptist Church, will celebrate his sixth anniversary Feb. 19th at 3 p.m. The Reverend C.I. Benefield and First Mount Carmel Baptist Church will be in charge of the services. The public is invited. PASTOR’S ANNIVERSARY The second anniversary of the Rev. Clyde Hill, pastor of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, 1252 Wrightsboro Rd., will be observed Sunday at 2:30 p.m. The anniversary will consist of three parts, beginning Thursday night Feb. 13, at 7:30 pan. with the Springfield Baptist Church and its pastor, the Rev. E.T. Martin in charge. On Friday night the First Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and its pastor the Rev. Andrew Johnson will be in charge. The anniversary will climax on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 16, at 2:30 p.m. with the Second Baptist Church of Aiken South Carolins and its pastor the Rev. M.C. Adams in charge. ANTIOCH GOSPEL CHORUS TO CELEBRATE ITS 27th ANNIVERSARY On Sunday Night, Feb. 16 the Antioch Gospel Chorus will "celebrate its 27th anniversary at the church by presenting “Inspirational Calendar”, arranged by Mrs. Bennie Mae Williams with selections taken from Helen Steiner Rice. Mrs. Mildred Donaldson will be Narrator. This program wiß also provide “Gospel Through Songs” with visiting choirs and choruses from other churches. One of the highlights of this program will be “Reflections From The Past” where the chorus members will pay special tribute to the history of the past. A processional of all choirs and choruses will sing “We Are Marching To Zion” at 7:30 Sharp. Refreshments will be served immediately following the program in the Educational Building with Mrs. Robbie Chamberlain serving as chairman. The Rev. R.E. Donaldson is pastor. Wells has planned services every Wednesday, during the Lenten Season at the various Methodist Churches throughout the city. The first service was held February 12, at Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church where tne Rev. L.R. Neal was the preacher.
