Pastor Lee Wallace
Praise the Lord, we greet
you in the name of the Lord.
We wish to point out to you
today, that outside the Holy
Bible, the Christian has no
ground to stand on.
Now I know that the Lord
speaks to his people; but he
will never speak contrary to
the Holy Bible. In other words,
the Lord will never tell a man
that another man's wife should
have been his. So we must (if
we want to be saved) obey the
Holy Scriptures.
On your job the employer
has given certain rules that
each employe must abide by.
Most of the time they will give
you the rules when you are
employed. Then it will be up
to you to read the book and
then decide whether or not
you intend to comply with the
regulations of the company.
Now, since you have made
Jesus Lord over your life, now
you must obey the regulations
that he has given for you. Well
now, since that is a fact, read
your Bible daily. This is the
only sure way we will know
what the rules are.
Some might say we hear the
preacher or mother or dad;
well many times these people
repeat hear-say and this kind of
stuff will send you to Hell. Is
that right? If you didn’t read
the rules on your job and you
did something wrong, could
you say he told me it was
0.K.? No. the boss expects you
to read and know the rules.
Jesus said in John 14:21 “He
that hath my commandments
and keepeth them, he is that
loveth me.”
1 asked one of my older
brothers in the ministry where

did we get calling each other
“Reverend”. His answer was
“it’s just a name they gave us
to identify us.” To be truthful
that’s the only answer 1 could
think of. However, I find no
such name in the Holy Rules.
The Holy Rules plainly state in
the latter part of Psalms 111:9
“Holy and Reverend is his
name.” You wouldn’t call me
or your pastor Holy, would
you? O.K. My name is Wallace.
How many of you will call me
Holy Wallace? I’ll tell you;
none of you. So why call me
Reverend? The Holy Scripture
or the Rule Book says, “DO
NOT DO IT.”
And so I ask you to please
call me by a scripture name.
First Peter 5 calls us “Elders”.
Jeremiah 23, calls us “Pastors.”
And as many of us who have
excepted Jesus as our Lord and
Savior, we are brothers and
sisters. So you may call me
Brother Wallace. When Paul
was called Saul, that was
before he met the Lord. Before
he gave his life to God. After
he gave his life totally to God
his name was changed from
Saul to Paul.
Reverend Lee Wallace died.
Brother Wallace lives. Praise
the Lord. Romans 6:2 says
“God forbid. How shall we,
that are dead to sin, live any
longer therin.” Romans 6:6
says “Knowing this that our
old man is crucificed with him
(Christ) that the body sin
might be destroyed, that
henceforth we should not serve
sin.”
People, we must let these
bodies of sin die. We must hate
every sin. We can’t like any sin
and love the Lord. If I use to
run around with women, then 1
must hate the sin of adultery;
if I love the Lord. And you
New Gospel Group Is
Unique And Talented
by Audrey Frazier
With a strong belief in God
and that He will make away,
James Bignon and God’s
Children have become one of
the most popular and sought
after gospel groups in Georgia
and South Carolina.
The group is composed of
James Bignon, Ms. Carolyn
Kelly, Ms. Ernestine Curry, Ms.
Larita Henderson, and Ms.
Vicki Butler.
When asked how the group
began, Bignon stated that after
two tries and failures to get a
group started, his third try was
successful. “After two tries
you tend to get despondent
but I asked the Lord to show
me those people who would be
best for me and the group.’
The way Bignon discovered

too, must die out to Christ.
You see, unless we die out,
Christ cannot live in us. Paul
says in Phil. 1:21 “For me to
live in Christ, to die is gain.”
Gal. 5:2425 says “And they
that are Christ’s have crucified

affections and lusts. If we live
in the spirit, let us also walk in
the spirit. May God Bless you
to grow strong in the Lord and
increase in the knowledge of
his truth, which is his word.

each member of the group is
just as unique as the group
itself. He continued by
describing each discovery.
’’Larita was with me from the
start and she stuck by me. Also
there was a Ms. Carolyn
Mobley from Atlanta but her
job caused her to return to
Atlanta permanently.
The next member was Ms.
Kelly. “1 was at the Moses
Baptist Church here in Augusta
and her choir was singing. 1 was
looking at her while she was
singing and while I was
looking, it seemed at first that
she was just a part of the
group. Sort of spiritually, a
light shown around which
picked her out from the group.
1 then went to her former
pastor, the Rev. Thomas Sapp,
and asked him about Ms. Kelly.

Rev. Avery
Resigns Green
Branch Pastorate
The Rev. J.D.R. Avery
announced that he will resign
as pastor of Green Branch
Baptist Church in Waynesboro,
Ga. effective Oct. 19, 1975.
He has been pastor of this
church for four years. He is
also pastor of the New Appling
Grove Baptist Church, Appling,
Ga., Bean Pond Baptist
Church, Jackson, S.C. and
Randall Branch Baptist
Church, Aiken County.
I also spoke to Mrs. Barbara
Jasper who in turn had Carolyn
talk with me. After talking
with me, she consented and has
been with me ever since.”
“Next was Ms. Curry.” “I
spoke with her one time about
the group and she said she was
interested. 1 first heard her at
First Mount Moriah Church. I
held off making a final decision
about her and each one of the
girls until I talked to God.
Later in my dreams, all I could
see was her face singing and
that’s what I based my decision
on. Like Ms. Kelly, Eamestine
has been in the group ever
since.”
Ms. Butler, the youngest
member of the group, caused
Bignon great concern. “The
reason 1 am so indecisive about
placing a final decision on
Vicki was because of her
schooling. I knew how far this
group was going in my mind. I
didn’t want to interfere in any
way with her schooling, but
decided to speak to her and her
parents. I told them what being
a member of the group would
require of her and she and her
parents agreed to her joining
the group. Like Larita,
Carolyn, and Earnestine, she
has been with the group ever
since. I first heard Vicki at
Beulah Grove Baptist Church.
The unusual quality of her
voice and the great possibility
of her, at such a youn g age, to
become a very effective gospel
singer is what interested me
about her. She could be an
inspiration to her peers and the
older generation.” Vicki was
only 15 years of age when she
began with the group.”
Going back to Ms.
Henderson, Bignon stated, “As
for Ms. Henderson, 1 met her at
First Mount Moriah Baptist
Church. I was just a bump on a
log then but she was a very
talented musician. We got
along very well. I heard her
sing and she had a talented

voice then as she does now.”
As for the group as a whole,
Bignon stated, “AU of these
ladies are ambitious, dedicated,
co-operative, understanding,
talented and fun to be with.”
When asked why he decided
to get a group together Bignon
replied, “The main reason is to
project a new inspiring group
in the city of Augusta and the
entire CSRA, hoping to inspire
disbelievers that God yet lives
and that they should not
knock it if they haven’t tried
it.”
About the name of the
group Bignon said, “We had
different titles but wanted
something different, something
that no one else had used. We
wanted something that would
cause the listeners to take
notice. This title “God’s
Children” layed upon my
heart. I left myself open for
other ideas and we aU decided
upon “God’s Children.” So we
legally named ourselves “James
Bignon and God’s Children.”
“The group plans to keep
