“LITTLE TRIAL”
Cont’d from page 1
Tuesday morning that Alligood
came to her office shortly
before he was killed and asked
if the other deputies had left.
Mrs. King testified that it was
not unusual for Alligood to ask
such a question.
However, Dees said Mrs.
King told him last June that
such a question was “abnormal
conduct on his part and it was
unusual.” He had Mrs. King
read what he described as a
transcript of that interview.
Mrs. King said Dees told her
during the noon break to
testify that Alligood’s question
was, indeed, unusual. “He told
me to go ahead and say it, that

afternoon.
“1 said you go ahead and say
exactly what is in that
statement,” Dees responded.
Hobgood then ordered Dees
off the case.
When Dees protested, the
judge said: “You are out of the
case right now. I don’t want
you to say anything to me
about it. I do this at my
discretion. I will give you five
minutes to get out of the
courtroom.”
Dees, of Montgomery, Ala.,
was assigned to the case by the

finance Miss Little’s defense.
After Dees’ dismissal, chief
defense attorney Jerry Paul
requested a hearing, which was
denied.
Paul also sought a
continuance to find another
attorney. Hobgood denied that
motion, saying that Dees was
“absolutely superfluous” to
the trial.
Wake County Solicitor
Burley Mitchell filed the felony
charge against Dees. A
preliminary hearing for Dees
was scheduled for Sept. 15 in
Raleigh. Conviction on the
charge carries a 10-year prison
sentence and an unrestricted

Linda Keyes Answers
Your Questions
Dear P.A.,
In this column, I shall
complete your questions.
Q-l. We have heard of
people who take fertility drugs
for multiple births. What can
you tell us about this drug and
other information pertaining to
its use?
Q-2. Do you have any
information on circumcision
and its advantages?
A-l. People are not given
these drugs to bring about
multiple births. Women who
are usually given these special
drugs have hormonal
deficiency. Therefore, the
drugs help the problem and
consequently often causes
multiple births due to their
potency and ability to alter the
normal physiological functions
of the ovaries causing them to
release several ova (eggs) during
the same cycle.
In high doses, if
administered during pregnancy,
these drugs may produce
androgenic effects (masculine
characteristics in the female

infant). In view of many
controversial aspects of the
effects of these drugs on the
fetus, detailed analytical
studies are needed to
determine the true status of
hormone administration as
related to fetal development.
It is therefore extremely
important to understand that
this kind of medication may
only be used in very specific
cases, by physicians who are
well aware of the danger
involved and who are in a
position to follow the patient
adequately. Moreover, ovarian
stimulation, as well as the full
investigation leading to it,
presupposes that the physician
knows the patient well and it
should only be undertaken in
an adequately organized
hospital and, preferably, one
with an infertility center. Your
local physician will be able to
refer to the proper facility if
help is desired.
A-2. Circumcision is the
cutting around and removal of
excess skin (prepuce) at the
end of the penis. This fores
is often tight after birth,
should be pulled back gentb

coaxed backward several tit

However, care must be ta’
not to strip it backwards

circumcision is that it aids
