p.m. Saturday, August 29 in
Second Providence Baptist
Church in North Augusta. The
Rev. Raymond H. Thompkins
of Augusta officiated.
The bride is the daughter of
the late Mr. and Mrs. Leroy
Mathews. The groom is the son
of Mrs. Mary Cobb of North
Augusta and Terry Evans of
Jersey City, N.J.
Terry Cofer, cousin of the
groom, of North Augusta, was
best man. Ushers were Willie
Cofer and Kenny Burton, both
of Augusta and cousins of the
groom.

and Miss Donna Jones, cousin
of the groom, both of North
Augusta.
Pheolian Arthur Evans IV,
nephew of the bride, of
Augusta, was ring-bearer.
Flower girl was Miss Sherry Y.
Scott of North Augusta, niece
of the groom.
The bride was given in
marriage of her brother, Roney
Mathews of Beech Island, S.C.
A reception followed in the
Summerfield Annex
Cafetorium in North Augusta.
Following a wedding trip to
Atlanta, the couple will reside
in North Augusta.
Mrs. Winnette Bradley has
been appointed by the
Richmond County Board of
Education as assistant principal
of Langford Jr. High School
As one of the 17 new
assistant principals appointed
by the board, Mrs. Bradley will
serve as the assistant principal
for instruction. W. Boose is
assistant principal of discipline
and L.E. Scott is principal of
Langford.

school and parents can be
assured that their children are
receiving a quality education
and top supervision under the
outstanding leadership of Mr.
Scott, his staff and teachers”,
commented Mrs. Bradley.

Retiring Sorors
Zeta Xi Omega Chapter of
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority,
Inc., Augusta, recently held a
reception-tea in honor of the
retirement of Soror Lucille
Floyd and Soror Josephine
Richardson at the home of
Soror Ruth James.
Soror Lucille retired as
teacher from the Richmond
County School System, and
Soror Josephine retired as
Registrar from Paine College.
Both sorors are chartered
members of Zeta Xi Omega
A native of Statesboro, Ga.,
Mrs. Bradley holds a B.S.
degree in Elementary
Education from Paine College
and the M. Ed. from South
Carolina State College.
She has taught in Burke
County and was chairman of
the reading department at
Hephzibah Elementary School.
Presently Mrs. Bradley is
secretary of the Hephzibah
Elementary and Jr. High P.T.A.
and a teacher of Adult Basic
Education at Hephzibah High.
Her membership includes the
Richmond County Association
of Educators, National P.T.A.,
Georgia Association of
Educators, Augusta Garden
City Guild and various civic
organizations.
A member of St. John
Baptist Church, Mrs. Bradley is
married to John D. Bradley,
band director at Paine College.
