Antioch Gospel Choir Celebrates 28th Anniversary
The Gospel Choir of the Antioch Baptist Church celebrated its 28th Anniversary
on Sunday evening, Feb. 20. Guest choir lor the event was the R.E. Donaldson
Choir of Antioch.
The Rev. R.E. Donaldson is the pastor.

the amount of $5,085.90 to
Dr. Julius S. Scott, Jr.,
president of Paine College,
during its annual Paine College
Day observance.

The Augusta Baptist
Ministers Conference, which is
composed of 60 member
churches, prganized Paine
College Day in 1976. This was
done because the ministers saw
the need of greater support by
the community for Paine.
Officers of the conference
are Rev. J.S. Wright, president;
Rev. D.M. Hickson,
vice-president; Rev. R.V.
Palmer, secretary; Rev. T.J.
Walker, asst-secretary; Rev.
M.E. Braxton, treasurer; Rev.
J.C. Gardner, chaplain; and
Rev. J.D. Williams, Sunday
School Teacher.
Gethsemane Begins
Revival Week; Red

Gethsemane Baptist Church
will hold its revival from
February 28 - March 4, 1977.
The Rev. N.T. Young is the
guest minister for the week.
Services will begin each
night at 7:30 p.m. The Rev.
Jacob Trowell is the pastor.

Native Os Southeast Appointed To
Interim Sea Post In Washington
Wiley S. Messick,
Southeastern Regional Director
for the U.S. Small Business
Administration (SBA) for ten
years, was appointed Acting
SBA Associate Administrator
for Operations February 10 at
the request of the Carter
Transition Team.
During the interim
appointment, Messick will be
responsible for the SBA’s 102
field offices in 91 cities. He

the job of solicitor general, the
department’s third highest

would be the first Black in that

assistant counsel.

Junior Choir Celebrates
Ist Anniversary
The Junior Choir of the Good Shepherd Baptist
Church, under the advisorship of Mrs. Helen Lawrence
recently celebrated its Ist Anniversary.
Selected as “Miss Junior Choir’’ was Carmen Jasper
with Elizabeth Rouse and Tonya Mason as Ist and 2nd
runners-up respec lively.
A token of appreciation was presented to Mrs.
Lawrence by the choir.
