At Easter we celebrate the resurrection of Christ and the Fact that he lives. At The News-Review, we celebrate the Fact that we have survived yet another year. Like each year since The News-Review was Founded in March of 1971, this past year has been difficult. Yet there has been progress. For the First time we were able to see that all active staff members received some Financial reward for their labor. The pay still does not be<iin to match the zorl. nerfoek ed, bill it is mere than we’ve ever able to do in the past. We moved our office upstairs. This gave us more room and a more suitable place to receive our readers and business associates. We increased our news pages. We are now averaging eight pages and running color in almost every issue, In the past we were able to do this only on Special occasions. We are grateful to our typesetter, L.D. Waters, and our printer, Roy Chalker, tor their cooperation. Two new faces were added to our office stall in the person of Mrs. Marv Gordon and Mrs. Catherine Bright. Mrs. Gordon worked in bookkeeping and circulation while Mrs. Bright has handled the secretarial work. We are particularly grateful for the dedicated work and sacrifice of Frank Bowman and Al Irby in their respective responsibilities as General Manager and News Editor. They had to assume major roles of leadership on the newspaper staff for the first time, and they handled their new duties remarkably well. We are indebted to you, our readers, advertisers, and stockholders for your continued support. We have always found your support and encouragement our primary source of inspiration. Serving you is our only reason for being. Christ’ resurrection signified victory over death and gave each of us hope for eternal life. JL No news paper will last Forever, but we are grateful that God has seen fit for us to be here this long, and we trust that we will fulfill our responsibility to this community and that we will be worthy of the like He has given us.
