Didi Anstett
Married
Former Seattle Supersonics coach Bill Russell was married to
Didi Anstett, former Miss U.S.A, in a private ceremony at Mercer
Island, Wash. Russell, 43, and his bride, 29, of Kirkland, Wash.,
have been acquainted for about seven years. It is the second
marriage for Russell and the first for Miss Anstett.
Jim Gilliam
Takes It All In Stride
New York - He has just finished watching the hitters in the
batting cage and was quietly preparing himself for another game
in a career that has lasted nearly 25 seasons.
The last time Jim Gilliam's name was penciled onto a lineup
card was more than a decade ago, so he has learned to change his
pregame ritual over the years.
He no longer runs the hard wind sprints across the outfield or
spends his early afternoons picking ground balls off the infield
dirt. Instead, he is hitting fungoesand observing batting practice.
It seems odd, that for someone who went by the name of
“Junior” for much of his playing days, Jim Gilliam is now the
senior member of the Los Angeles coaching staff.
For a player who broke into the major leagues in 1953 and
played through the 1966 season, Gilliam has seen his share of
glorious Dodger teams.
But as pleased as he is with the talent and success of this
Dodger team, Gilliam is not about to rush to judgment. He has
seen too many sudden turn-arounds and unexplainable collapses
to be taken in by quick success.
Foreman
Wants To Be Traded
At times last year, Chuck Foreman was the Minnesota Vikings’
offense. But now the disgruntled running back says he might not
even suit up for the National Football League's 1977 season if the
Vikings don't trade him - preferably to a West Coast term.
Foreman’s beef is that he’s underpaid. He reportedly would like
to see his salary doubled.

New Definition
for Superstar
Superstar’s Superstar: New York Knicks forward Spencer
Haywood says he wants to give a new definition to the word
superstar.
“Hell, I’ll tell you who is a superstar,” said Haywood. “It's a
man or woman raising six kids on SISO a week, teaching them
good values. That’s who society should call a superstar.”
