John Williams, baritone, will
be presented in a recital of
religious music Sunday, Oct. 9,
at 8 p.m. at Elim Baptist
Church, 2357 Mt. Auburn
Avenue.
Williams was reently
appointed choral director and
instructor of voice at Paine
College. A native of
Charleston, he is a graduate of
Talladega College and Indiana
University. He has done further
study at the University of
South Carolina and South
Carolina State College.
He has performed with the
New York State Philharmonic
Orchestra, the Mobile
Symphony, Columbia
Symphony Orchestra, and the
Charleston Symphony
Orchestra.
Williams formerly taught at
Boggs Academy and in the
Charleston County School
System.
The concert is free of charge
and open to the public.
Bazaar set
for Saturday
The annual bazaar of the
Missionary Women of Williams
Memorial Church will be held
at 10 a.m. on Oct. 8.

County Fair to help FHA
The Hephzibah County Fair
*77 will be held at Hephzibah
Junior High campus Oct. 15,
from 9 a.m. The Hephzibah
Junior High FHA will take part
in the event. The FHA will
have a booth to sell cup cakes,
brownies, cookies, and others.
Proceeds from the FHA
bake sale will go toward
sending a delegation to the
State Convention in Atlanta,
and for our Parent-Student
Banquet. Other activities will
include making fruit baskets
for the elderly and making gifts
for the children’s wards in the
hospitals.
