National Honor Society; he
was also listed in Who’s Who in
America of High School Stu
dents.
In 1973, he graduated from
Augusta College where he ma
jored in political science. While
at Augusta College, he served
on the Athletic Policies Com
mittee; Legal Services Study
Committee and the Georgia
Intern Program. He was also on
the Dean’s List.
In 1975, he received the
master of governmental admin
istration with Concentration in
Public Policy from Georgia
State University in Atlanta,
Georgia. He did an intern in
Georgia Department of Human
Resources in the Office of
Volunteer Services, he develop
ed a reporting system so
services rendered by volunteers
could be measured. He also
conducted a survey of children
that failed vision and hearing
screening tests.
He is now associated with
the law firm of Judge Freder
ick T. Work in Gary, Ind.

AUGUSTA COLLEGE President George A. Christenberry accepts a check from
Babcock & Wilcox's Robert P. Stuntz (R) as part of B i W’s Aid-To-Education
program. The college was selected to receive a grant of SI,OOO based on the
relevance of the college’s engineering and technical programs to the company’s
needs. “This grant reflects our belief that industry should support higher education
to help assure that the quality of eoucation remains high and that sources of
technical anu management employes will continue to be available, said B&W
President George G. Zips. Stuntz is vice president of B&W s Refractories Division.

$300,000 suit
A motion for summary
judgment field by Southeastern
Newspapers Corp., which is
named defendant in a
$300,000 libel suit, has been
denied by Richmond County
Superior Court Judge Edwin D.
Fulcher.
Raintiff is named in the suit
filed by the Rev. George
Richard Washington, who
alleges that his reputation was
damaged by a Sept. 17, 1977
news article in The Chronicle.
Southeastern Newspapers
had sought dismissal on
grounds that tire story was
written from information
contained in court records.

is runner-up
Miss Josephine Jackson was
2nd runner-up in the Essay
portion of the Miss National
Teen-ager Pageant. There were
92 contestants in the pageant
from all over Georgia.
Each young lady was asked
to recite a “100-word essay”
on the subject “What’s Right
About America.” As 2nd run
ner-up in the Essay, Miss
Jackson received a trophy and
a $25 savings bond.
She is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Joseph T. Jackson of
Augusta.
