'' The place on which you stand is holy ground.
—Exodus 3:5
1. "The earth is the
Lord's.” Hence it is holy.
When we say, “All things
come of thee, O Lord; and of
thine own have we given
thee,” it is but another way
of saying, “Holy things for
the Holy.” Whatever God
has touched is holy. The
earth itself is hallowed
ground. It reflects its maker’s
hand, heart and mind.
2. "And God said that it
was good. ” Goodliness and
godliness are more than cog
nate or similar terms; they
represent the one and same
reality. If it is good truly,

The holiness of all created
things is represented music
ally perhaps in the most sub
limely beautiful way in the
familiar German hymn,
“Fairest, Lord Jesus.”
It speaks of all nature as
but a dim reflection of God’s
grace and glory. The hymn
has us pray:
Fairest Lord Jesus,
Ruler of all nature,
O Thou of God and man
the Son;
Thee will I cherish,
Thee will I honor,
Thou, my soul's glory, joy
and crown.
Fair are the meadows,
Fairer still the woodlands,
Robed in the blooming garb

then it is of God. God saw
the earth; and of it He said

3. Where you walk is holy.
To be holy means to be set
apart for and by God. Where
you walk and stand has been
set apart for you to do special
things for the Lord, the par
ticular things which reflect
God’s will.
Wherever God’s messen

Jesus is fairer,
Jesus is purer,

Fair is the sunshine,

And all the twinkling, starry

Jesus shines brighter,
Jesus shines purer,
Than all the angels in heaven
