Augusta College Librarian A.
Ray Rowland has recently
completed a revised and
enlarged edition of A
Bibliography of the Writings on
Georgia History, 1900-1970.
Rowland compiled his
original bibliography,
published in 1966, with the
intention of citing every book
and article on Georgia history
published during the period
from 1900-1956. It served as a
valuable aid to students and
scholars, but has been out of
print since 1971.
He has been assisted over the
past few years in the project of
a revised and larger edition by
James. E. Dorsey, librarian at
Emmanuel County Junior
College in Swainsboro, Ga.
The newer 544 page work,
which contains nearly 5200
entries, is divided into three
parts. Part 1 is an exact
reproduction of entries from
the first edition and covers the
period from 1900-1956.
Part II includes entries
which cover the period from
1956-1970, as well as some
entries covering the earlier
period but not included in Part
I.
Part 111 gives a listing of
master’s, theses, doctoral
dissertations, and unpublished
papers from 1900-1970.
All three parts update the
references found in the earlier
work and provide a more
comprehensive guide to
Georgia material, making it the
most complete listing available
for the period covered.
Publication date for the
book was May 1978.
