invited to deliver the sermon
for the Ordination Service at
the New York-Washington
Conference July 25-30 in
Norfolk, Va.
The Rev. Holman has for 42
years ‘preached the word,
pastored the flock and praised
the Lord.’
He is a graduate of the
Gammon Theological Seminary
in Atlanta.
During his pastorate of the
Holsey Temple C.M.E. Church
in Macon, Ga., he was a

at Williams Memorial C.M.E.
Church, the Rev. Holman
wrote, produced and directed a
play “Travelers in the Veil”
which was first presented at
Williams Memorial then
Engagement announced
Mr. Richard J. Comer of
Gary, Ind., announces the
engagement of his daughter,
Denise Christie, to Ellis Ronald
Garnett of Augusta, son of Mr.
and Mrs. Ellis Garnett. Miss
Comer is also the daughter of
the late Mrs. Ruth Marie
Comer.
The couple will be wed on
August 20 at 3:30 p.m. in
Gary, Ind. Miss Comer received
her bachelor of arts degree
from Howard University and
the master of arts degree from
Indiana University. She is
presently employed by the
Urban League of Northwest
Indiana in the housing
program. Her grandparents are
Mrs. Ruth Dennie and the late
Mr. Ralph Dennie, and Mr. and
Mrs. Vinson Comer, all of
Gary, Ind.
Mr. Garnett is an honor
graduate of Lucy C. Laney
Rehearsals
to resume
The Walker Baptist
Association Chorus will resume
its rehearsal schedule after
having brief vacation.
The rehearsal will be held
July 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the
Liberty Baptist Church, where
the Rev. R.V. Palmer is pastor.

Augusta College where he
received a B.A. degree in
political science.
He received the master of
arts degree from Georgia State
University and the doctor of
jurisprudence degree from
Indiana University in
Bloomington. He is associated
with the law firm of Judge
Frederick T. Work in Gary,
Ind.
He is the grandson of the
late Mr. and Mrs. Reuben
Garnett of Appling, Ga., and
Mrs. Charlotte O’Bryant and
the late Mr. Henry O’Bryant
Sr. of Augusta.

its 51st anniversary Sunday at

Mrs. Betty R. Martin will be
the guest speaker. She is a
teacher in the public school
system and the wife of the
Rev. Emmett T. Martin, pastor
