Did you know that the Coast Guard is
lowering sex barriers?
Well, from Portsmouth, Va, via the
AFRO-AMERICAN, I read that a new
Coast Guard policy will allow women to
work side by side with male crewmen at
sea swabbing the deck, navigating the ship
and possibly dating the men while in
port.
The Coast Guard has approved
sweeping policy changes, eleminating all
restrictions based on sex alone in
assigning personnel to duties. Under the

THRUST FOR BLACK WOMEN
Another bit of happy news for Black
women has been publicly announced by
Robin Owens, president of the National
Association of Negro Business and
Professional Women’s Clubs, Inc.
(NANBPW) She stated that Black women
haven’t received their just share of the
multi-million dollar Small Business

the NANBPW Clubs, Inc. plan to rectify
in the future.
Mrs. Owens attributes much of this

continues, this has created the impression
that the women lack the ability to
become successful in the capitalistic
system.
Mrs. Owens, a retired credit union
manager from Flint, Mich., stated that
the NANBPW has members who have
