“Be perfect. St. Matthew 5:48
/. Cod wants our best.
This is but another way of
saying that God would like to
give a full 100 percent guar
antee on the things of His
creation. God made us for
Himself, to be participants or
partakers of His life and
work. Without our putting
forth our best, what God has
made exhibits a seeming im
perfection.
2. God needs our best.
Think of the countless things
which God is called uponxo
do. Prayers or petitions for
His blessings ascend to the
Throne of Grace in an end
less, countless stream. Unless
God’s hands (your hands!),
God’s mind (your mind) and
heart (your heart) are operat
ing at their peak, their very
best, then God’s work cannot
be the best which He would
have it be.

3. We can be perfect. We
need but conjoin our lives
with God’s life continually.
When we open our lives to let
God’s spirit, God’s life and
will and presence enter and
take possession, then perfec
tion is our lot.
While we have free will,
the proper... and 0n1y...
choice for our fulfillment of
Creation’s purpose for us, is
to find our true selves in
God.
“Be ye therefore perfect,
even as your heavenly Father
is perfect.”
