Bethlehem
graduation
is held
The graduating class of the
Bethlehem Community Center
Child Development Project was
found “worthy of graduation”
last Sunday and all 17
members of the class were
awarded diplomas.
Students of the extended
care class put on a “court
scene” and called members of
the graduating class to the
stand to give evidence of their
having met all requirements.
The jury of parents and guests
heard the graduating students’
testimony and agreed with the
judge’s verdict of “worthy.”
Ms. Brenda Hogans, assistant
principal of Terrace Manor
Elementary School, was the
speaker. She told the graduates
that they had indeed “only just
begun” and that she hoped
they would continue their
education.
Ms. Hogans said that the
kindergarten graduation is the
most important of all
graduations.
Ms. Annette Jones was
presented the Teacher of the
Year award.

Steward, and Don Bailey.
The society, which is one of
the nation’s foremost high
school honoraries, inducted the
students because of their
demonstrated excellence in
scholastic leadership and civic
achievement according to
sponsor Ellis M. Johnson.
The National Awards
Program is sponsored by 60
colleges from across the
country. Thousands of dollars
in scholarship funds from these
institutions are made available
to Society members each year.
Johnson received a National
Appreciation Award from the
Society on behalf of the
students and stated, “I am
extremely proud of these
exceptional students and the
honor that they have received.
It is a reward and should also
be accepted as a challenge to“
them to continue their course
of excellence.”
One of the Society’s guiding
principles is to promote both
academic and civic
achievement on the high school
level by recognizing students in
its Membership Registry, The
Society of Distinguished
American High School
Students, which is published
annually and distributed
nationwide.
