From Hollywood
Richard Pryor had the audience laughing when he
finished his bit on the Tonight Show with host Johnny
Carson. Pryor recently returned from a trip to Africa and
made a suggestion something like this to Carson, “If you
want to do anything, if you are Black and still here in
America, get a gun and go to South Africa and kill some
white people, and then you’ll probably go to jail again,
but you will be doing something besides robbing old
ladies.” The cornerstanders claim that the NBC switch
board didn’t light up like a Xmas tree, which comes as a
real surprise.

As we mentioned several weeks ago it looks like a hot
romance between Diana Ross and Ryan O’Neal. Now we
hear the pair have spent many a moonlit evening at
O’Neal’s .Malibu beach home and are attending parlies
like two very young kids in love.
The cornerstanders claim that champ Muhammad Ali is
suffering a serious kidney infection that may cause him to
think twice about fighting later this year in Africa. They
also claim that many eyes and ears are watching the ac
tions of his pretty wife and wondering if the lady is making
personal plans that just might include divorce.
Sylvester gained world wide fame as the King of Disco
with the help of his two hefty backup singers, Izora
Rhodes and Martha Wash. The ladies are called the Two
Tons o’Fun and their flash and fire behind Sylvester has
added up to their being awarded their ow n record contract
with Fantasy Records. Webel that Sylvester will be heard
in the background on theii first album.

Could %
your son fl
or daughter ■
use a scholarship
underwritten by Procter & Gamble
to pursue a career in engineering?
•,.11 11 11
Procter & Gamble is a high technology company, and good engineers are
important toius. But today's engineering graduates include onlv a small
percentage of minorities and women.
To help change this, The Procter & Gamble Fund is working with the
National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The Fund underwrites scholarships
ranging from $250 up to $2500, for up to five years, to minority and female
students to encourage them to “make it" in engineering. As many as twenty
students from all over the country are selected each year by National Merit
through its Achievement Scholarship and Merit Scholarship competitions.
If your son or daughter will be a high school junior this fall, he or she
should take the Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/NatiOnal Merit
Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) in October. (Arrangements are
made through the high school.) If your teenager scores high and becomes a
Finalist, he or she might qualify for one of these scholarships. To be con
sidered, all he or she need do is check engineering as a career interest when
taking the PSAT/NMSQT.
Perhaps after "making it," your son or daughter might help us make Tide or
Crest or Ivory Soap or any of our other fine products. We'd like that.
