Leadership school
Nearly 300 persons
participated in the annual
Georgia Leadership Education
School held at Paine College
this past week, according to
the Rev. Luther R. Neal, dean
of the Leadership School.
“The school is designed to
help pastors, presiding elders,
local preachers, women of the
missionary societies, laymen
and young people in Christian
education," he said. General

Two Augustans recently
served as commissioners to the
General Assembly of the
Presbyterian Churches. The
United Presbyterian Church
USA and the Presbyterian
Church US met in Kansas City,
Missouri May 22-30. The
commissioners from Augusta
were Mrs. Ruth E. James and
the Rev. Benjamin Anderson.

were sent by the Presbytery of
Georgia.
The General Assembly is the
highest judicatory of the
Presbyterian Church.
The Assembly handled many
and varied subjects related to
the Church and World Affairs.
Mrs. James is a member and
elder of the Christ United
Presbyterian Church. The Rev.
Anderson is pastor of Belle
Terrace Presbyterian Church.
Mt. Calvary
is in revival
The annual Summer Revival
began at the Mt. Calvary
Baptist Church Monday, June
25. The evangelist for the week
will be the Rev. C.M.
Alexander, pastor of the
Antioch Baptist Church, in
Atlanta. Services begin at 7:30
nightly.

the theme “the meaning of
church membership and its
mandates.

six weeks beginning June 17
and ending J uly 28,1979.
3. Winners will be
determined on a point system,
which wall include the sale of
individual newspapers as well
as one-year subscriptions. Each
newspaper sold is worth 25
points.
4. Individual paper sales will
be credited when the coupon
on page 5 is filled out
designating the minister and
church, and returned to The
News-Review.
