Sealing out ‘bugs’
Dental decay is the most
prevalent disease in the
world. It occurs most
frequently on the chewing
surfaces of teeth. Rarely
does a person go through
childhood without some
cavities and fillings in these
areas. Now, there is away
to avoid much of this
damage and repair.
Plastic film, known as
sealant, can be applied by
the dentist to these chewing
surfaces to seal vulnerable
frits and grooves in which
decay-causing bacteria can
be trapped. The sealants
prevents the plaque and
acid from attacking the
tooth surface.

because it generally erupts
through the gums at six
years of age) is often sealed.
T(ie sealants, if properly
in place, usually protect
teeth as long as it is
retained. In studies of
several thousand children in
various areas and in studies
done at the dental school
here in Augusta, the
material has been retained
from a few months to
several years. If lost, the

Sealed bids for ‘‘PUBLIC FACILITIES & IMPROVEMENTS PROGRAM,
WATER AND SEWER FACILITIES; PHASE I, 3RD LEVEL CANAL CDBG B-81-
MC-13-0003/3-81-O8”, will be received by the Mayor and Clerk of Council of the City
of Augusta, Georgia until 12 O’CLOCK NOON on 9 NOVEMBER 1982 in room 806
of the City-County Municipal Building.
At that time and place the sealed bids shall be publicly opened and read aloud for
furnishing all materials, labor, machinery, tools, etc. necessary for all work involved in
the construction of approximately 1500 feet of walled and paved concrete drainage
canal, including box culverts under the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad and Laney-
Walker Blvd.
The project shall be performed all in accordance with the plans and specifications
prepared by Baldwin & Cranston Associates, Inc., for the Community Development
Department.
. Bids must be accompanied by a Certified Check or Bid Bond in an amount of five
percent (5®70) of the total bid price. No bid may be written for a period of sixty (60)
days after closing time scheduled for receipt of bids.
Plans and specifications for bidding purposes may be obtained at the office of Bald
win &Cranston Associates, Inc., 1103 Greene Street, Augusta, Georgia, upon payment
of One Hundred Seventy-Five and 00/100 Dollars ($175.00) for each set (non
refundable).

Counter and David Evans,
two black scientists from
Harvard University - who
have traveled deep into the
South American jungle for
almost a decade, the en
slaved Africans were taken
primarily to . South
America, Central America
and the Caribbean.
On the upcoming edition
of Tony Brown’s Journal,
the television series carries
the viewer deep into
unknown jungles of
Surinam in an investigation
of “The Vanishing Tribe.”
