Paine students to pay SIOO registration
Beginning with the fall

regardless of that student’s
financial aid status.

Planning
by Mildred Faulks
“If you want something
to happen, make a space
for it”.
Planning is a matter of
probabilities, which
means that sometimes
your plans will turn out
and sometimes they
won’t. Nothing is a sure
thing, and any plans that
you make for the future
have to deal with uncer
tainty.
Once you realize that,
several other conclusions
are apparent. First, there
are probably things you
can do to raise your
probabilities for success.
Second, you should have
some alternatives in case
your first plan doesn’t
work out. Third, any
given plan can fail, and
you had best prepare for
that possibility also.
Your planning should
cover different time spans.
You can, and should, plan
ten years ahead. Although
there will be much uncer
tainty in your life over the
next ten years, one thing
that you can count on with
absolute certainty is that
ten years from now you
will be ten years older.

Where do you want to be
ten years from now?
Plan for intensity; in at
least one area of your life,
be intense. Focus strongly
on something. Be good at
it.
Plan some diversity in
your life; even while you
are focusing on one area.
Plan for gradual im
provement, not spectular
leaps. Practically
everything worthwhile in
life is achieved in small
steps.
A final comment on
planning: To plan, you
must have information.
You must know
something about the sub
ject of your plans.
The basic point is, you
can’t make good plans un
til you have some raw
material to plan with. You
need knowledge and ex
perience.

Smith emphasized that
the policy does not in
dicate any financial crisis
at Paine, nor is it inten

Smith added that the
