Braves take a slide
Being an Atlanta native
made me an instant Braves
fan. A few weeks ago I
was riding high because
the Braves were sporting
an eight-game lead in the
National League West.
My predictions were
coming true. The Braves
were winning and the
young, inexperienced Los
Angeles Dodgers were
losing.
Suddenly, tragedy
struck. Bob Homer, the
Braves slugging third
baseman, broke his right
wrist sliding into second
base. He would be lost
for the rest of the season.
I was a little worried,
but not much; the Braves
had proved before they
could win without the
services of Horner,
though he will be missed
not being in the line-up.
A few days after Hor
ner was desposed to the
disabled list, the real
blow took place when
Jerry Royster was in
jured.

Jerry’s value to the
Braves is only as the best
utility man in
professional baseball.
Jerry Royster can play
virtually any position on
the field; he can hit and is
a good baserunner.
Royster has proved time
and time again his impor
tance to the Braves’
organization and their
winning.
Hurry back, Jerry,
before it’s too late!
High School Football
This week’s game of
the week is Butler vs.
Glenn Hills. Butler lost a
lot of good players, on of
fense and defense; many
of them played both
ways. A lot of talent was
on the bench but didn’t
get much playing time.
On the other hand,
Glenn Hills, who made it
all the way to the South
Georgia Championships
last year, has about 15
starters returning from
last year’s record-setting
team.
I’m going to have to go
with Glenn Hills by two
touchdowns.
