“Blacks Who Died For
Jesus, A History Book”
will dispel the notion that
Blacks had no connection
with Christianity until
they were faced with
Europeans in Africa in
the 15th century or when
American slaves were
permitted the first church
in 1733 in Savannah, Ga.
Mark Hyman, the
author writes that on the
day of the Crucifixion,
Black Simon the
Cyrenian helped Jesus
carry the cross. His son,
Alexander, was killed by
Rome for preaching the
gospel. Following this
were scores of African

Peterson Dec. 4 at 7 p.m.
The cantata portrays
the night of our Christ’s
birth. Using passages of
scripture from Matthew
and Luke, it tells of that
unforgettable night—a
night when centuries-old
prophecy came true.
