Hospitalized vets to be saluted
The Augusta Veterans
Administration Medical
Center will carry out its
11th annual National
Salute to Hospitalized
Veterans on Feb. 14. The
nationwide effort, spon
sored annually by the
Veterans Administration,
pays special tribute to the
more than a million
veterans who enter VA
medical facilities for
medical attention each
year.
Through the Salute
program, veteran, civic,
religious youth
organizations and citizens
of Augusta are en
couraged to phone the
nearest VA medical cen
ter to find out how they
can participate.
Nationally, the VA
medical facilities are
hosting special guests and
planning activities
especially for their
veteran-patients. Although
Veterans Day each year is
the traditional day on
which all American
veterans are remembered,
the Veterans Ad
ministration especially
remembers the patients in '
its medical facilities on
Feb. 14 in recognition of
te particular challenges
which these men and
women, often far from
family and friends, face
during their
hospitalization.
