to an upstair bathroom, when they
were stopped by Wilcox, who
refused to let them use the toilet.
Elmore said Wilcox pushed him
and he pushed the former assistant
basketball coach back.
Then, according to Elmore,
Buford said to Wilcox, “Don’t put
your hand in my chest. Don’t push
on me.” Wilcox pushed him and
Buford began taking off his jacket.
At that point Wilcox pulled a .357
magnum pistol and pointed it at
Elmore’s neck.
Elmore said Wilcox spun him
around and shoved the gun into his
back, pushing him down the stairs.
Wilcox then went back upstairs
and grabbed Buford by the collar
putting the gun to his back.
Elmore said the two men appeared
their professions and
their communities. Ac
complishments such as
these are the result of
dedication, service and
leadership—qualities
which deserve to be
recognized and remem
bered according to a
board spokesperson.

presented in the
prestigious annual awar

they are now being con-
to stumble and the gun went off.
Wilcox reportedly dragged
Buford to the porch then disap
peared.
He later surrendered himself to
police in Epworth Hall on the
college campus.
Buford was admitted at Univer
sity Hospital in critical condition.
However, by midweek his con
dition had been upgraded to
serious.
Wilcox said he accidentally
discharged the weapon trying to
remove Buford from the building
because the young man was
causing trouble.
He said he had asked Buford
and Elmore to leave and offered to
give them back their $1 admission
fee. •
