honored newly-installed Miss
America, Suzette Charles, at an
undergraduate luncheon. The vice
presidential candidate, Geraldine
Ferraro, was keynote speaker at a
u/.dnecriav eveninc banauet. and
a host of Black women officials and
business person strategy sessions
throughout the week.
“AKA, let us march on to a beat
of a different drummer,” Jackson
said in concluding his address.
“Stand together, march together.
Don’t you get weary.”
To the shouts of the hundreds of
Alpha Kappa Alpha women
gathered on the Capitol lawn,
Jackson concluded: “Our time, I’ll
tell you, has come.”
