Bro. Richard Williams
Third, let me suggest the word
RECLAMATION. This is the real
key to the “heart” and “soul” of a
godly parent, for greater
joy...than to hear of thy children
walking in truth!”This is viewed
correctly when, a partner with
God, I understand the “value” of
a soul (Mt. 16:24-26)!
' Especially, the soul of “my”
child. In this word “reclamation”,
I see “rectification”, “restitution”
and “reconciliation.” Indeed,
wrongs must be rectified,
restitution is in “repentance” and
reconciliation must be made to
both God and man!
This is the “sum and substance”
of what I need to produce in the
soul of my child “when he goes
wrong” (II Cor 7:9-10; etc.). To be
able to say in my prater to God,
“he was dead, and he is alive
again; he was lost, and is found” is
hopefully what is accomplished
when: 1. In A Negative Way: a) I
do not minimize “the” sin as
“such a little thing.” Any sin that
can separate from God is “no” lit
tle thing ? (Isa. 59:1-2; Rom. 3:23;

6:23). b) I do not rationalize the
sin by finding an excuse for my
child’s desire! It matters not “if
everybody else dees it” (Ex. 23:2;
Isa. 5:20; etc.). £) I do not
glamorize the sin by allowing
Satan to describe sin as a life of
glamour, excitement and fun! The
“wages” of sin is death (Rom.
6:23), and it lasts for “only a
season” (Heb. 11:25). d) I do not
sensationalize the sin by hearing of
the assets (if there be any, and
there are not) and not discussing
the liabilities! (Mt. 4:8-11, What
if?). Sin is a deceiver, yea, a
delusive cheat, so I cannot allow
my child to be a misguided
gullible! e) I do let the sin paralyze
with its hypnotic spell that it can
cast. The strange fascination of sin
I will never get a stranglehold on
my child! (Heb. 6:4-6; I Jn. 5:16;
II Pet. 2:2-22).
2. In A Positive Way: a) 1
examine my own life to make sure
My house is in order” (llKgs. 20:1;
II Pet. 1:10). b) I very lovingly
show that the world “is not to
mold or shape us” (Rom. 12:2; I
Jn. 2:15-17; Ja. 4:4). c) I prove my
love to my child as Christ did to

d) I inform my child the law is “for
him,” just as it is “for the other
fellow”. God had one son and sin
ce He did not change his mind fQi
him, I do not expect Him to
change his mind for my son
(Rom. 13:1). e) I restrain my child,
as I never want to become an Eli
(1 Sam. 3:10) f. I very explicitly ex
plain to my child the horrors of
hell, along with its complete “table
of contents” (Rev. 20:10; 21:8;
Mark 9:43). g) I warn my children
about procrastination. Life in
deed, is “like a vapor” (Jas. 4:14)
and no one should “boast of a
tomorrow” (Prov. 27:1; I Sam.
20:3). h. I pray with my child and
for my child.’’...far be it from me
that I should sin against Jehovah
in ceasing to pray for you: but I
will instruct you in the good and
right way” (I Sam. 12:23; 9:27).
Fourth, let me suggest the word
RECOMMENDATION. I have in
mind an attitude of true “accep
tance” back into “the family”.
True, there can be no forgiveness
where thee is no repentance (Luke
17:3-4), but there is repentance
there ought to be “the robe, the
shoes, the ring, the feast an the
follow both services.
The theme for these services,
Peace Through Prayer and Action
was developed by Christian
Women in India. It calls people the
world over to gather for the 98th
consecutive year to circle the world
in prayer for peace and to become
active in the role of peacemakers.
The service seeks to stimulate par
ticipants to make a committment
to become personally invovled in
the peacemaking process as in
dividuals, as families within their
communities, and their nation and
the world. Participants at both
services will wear their native
dress. The public is invited to at
tend.
Gifts of food staples brought to
the services will be donated to the
Downtown Cooperative Church
Mission.
kiss!” For “THIS MY
50N...”...and not “this thy son!”
This acceptance has caused a
complimentary celebration to the
great plan of the master, “two are
better than one, because they have
a good reward for thier labor.
For if they fall, the one will lift
up his fellow; but woe to him that
is alone when hefalleth, and hath
not another to lift him up” (Eccl.
4:9).
We have always been en
couraged to “make God a part of
our family”. This is set forth at
least five times in Deuteronomy
alone (4:9-10; 6:6-9; 6:20-25;
11:19-20; 32:46).
When I “master the thought”
that Christ recommends me to his
Father as a child in the family, I
then realize that my son and I are
not just “father and son”, but
“brothers” in the stronger and gr
eater spiritual bond. Any verse,
then, that applies to “another
brother” applies to “my son.”
When “goes wrong,” I then am
guided by the highest and most
spiritual intelligence, and if he can
be “won back” he’ll be back in the
fold because of those beautiful,
never-fending principles that will
reach up and into eternity (Gal.
6:1; Jas 5:19-20; I Pet. 4:8). God
gave principles for success, not for
failure!.
