She represents the second ward. Mrs. Mays is a native of Lincoln County, Georgia. She moved to Augusta a number of years ago. She received her education in the public school of Lincoln County. Mrs. Mays, is a member of Trinity C.M.E. Church. She is very active in community work. She has worked with the following committees: the lunchroom study committee, American Cancer Society, Community Clothing Center, City Recreation and was a pioneer in the city cleanup committee. Mrs. Mays has been active in the following civic organizations: Y.W.C.A., chairman of the Phyllis Wheatley Branch for two years, a member of the Board of Directors of the Greene Street Y.W.C.A. for three years. In 1967 she was a voting delegate to the National Y.W.C.A. Convention in Boston, Massachusetts. She is also a member of the NAACP.
