The broken engine at the furnace has been repaired, and the blast was turned on last Thursday night. The old Cherokee is now turning out iron of the best qualify, which is finding ready sale on the market. Mr. E. F. Hoyt, state organizer of the Masons’ Annuity, has been here for a week in the interest of that rra- ternal order. The brethren of the mysti.c tie would do well to examine the merits of the Annuity. Mr. J. W. Lee, of Walker county, has bought the store ot Mr. G. L. Agee, and lias also bought from Mr. J. C. He is more than glad to get back to Cedartown and Polk county; Messrs. H. L. Lewman, of Louis ville, Ky., and W. M. Kelley, of Atlanta, were here the first of the week looking after some litigation in which they are interested. Mrs. J. H. Quinlan and son, of Moosup, Conn., joined their husband and father here yesterday, Mr. Quin lan having a position with Mill No. 2 of the Cedartown Cotton Co. Your City Licenses are now due, and if not paid by the first of April, 50.per cent will be added to same by act of the Council, March G, 1900. J. H. Philpot, City Marshal. Mr. D. S. Copp, a sterling citizen of Fish, was in town Saturday. He says he is strongly in favor of the white primary, and he and his neigh bors will turn out and vote for it on Wednesday, April 4th. Mrs. W. Simp son will conduct a boarding house in the rooms just vacated by her, and the Eastview House will be man aged by Mrs. M. L. Lewis and Mrs. A. M. Bergdort. Mr. and Mrs. N. H. Swayne ar rived in the city Monday from New York, and we are glad to say will make their home here. Mr. Swayne is a member of one of the leading law firms-of New York, and is vice- president of the Alabama & Georgia Iron Company. Mr. and Mrs: Swayne are at the Philpot House, and are gladly welcomed to Cedar town. Dr. B. F. Sims,the popular dentist, will have associated with him after this week Dr. Wm. II. Marsh, a talented young dentist of Collins ville, Ala., under the firm name of Siins & Marsh. Dr. Marsh is a nephew of Dr. Win.
