While supervising the work of the big picker, his arm got too near the machinery and his shirt sleeve was caught in the revolving wheels. The beater” was making fully 3,000 revolutions a minute, and his arm was jerked Into the flying machinery quick as a flash. The member was broken in several places, and finally severed completely just above the elbow. The wound bled profusely, and but for (he timely aid of some near by employees, who quickly corded the arm near the shoulder, the vic tim would have bled to death in a very few fninutes. Drs. J. A. Liddell and W. A. Chapman were telephoned and re sponded promptly. The limb was dressed, und the patient is doing as well as could be expected. . No blame is attached to anyone for the terrible accident. The occur rence is just one of those unfortunate affairs which frequently happens where high speed machinery is oper- aled. Mr. Hanson simply allowed his arm to get loo near Hie machin ery, with the result nboye men tioned. His many friends deeply sympathize with him in this pain ful accident and serious loss.
