O’Farrell, the popular traveling representative of the At lanta Journal, was here yesterday. He is one of the cleverest gentlemen on the road, and represents a paper rapidly increasing in popularity. O., lias leased from Col. W. J. Harris the north room t.f his new building, and will open up a shoe store there as soon as it is completed. Mr. Mat thews lias been desirous for some time of locating here, but could not find a vacant store-room. He will be a welcome addition to our busi ness circles. Mr. Isadore Scheuer, one of our most prominent and popular mer chants, left Tuesday for New York to purchase the fall and winter stock of goods for his big dry goods em porium. Mr. Seheuer will buy one of the largest and best selected stocks in the history of his popular estab lishment, and that means that the people of Cedartown and vicinity will have a splendid assortment to select from. The big waste house at Mill No. of the Cedartown Cotton Company was discovered to be on fire about 11 o’clock Monday night, and was almost totally destroyed. Tlier lacs tory firemen did excellent work in fighting the Barnes. Our city fire department made quick time to the fire, although it was outside the cor poration, and volunteered their ser vices, but their assistance was not needed. Spontaneous combustion is the probable cause of the fire. Dr. Henry M.Hall spent last week in Atlanta, taking the examination tor appointment as Acting Assist ant Surgeon in the United States Array for our foreign service. There were some fifty applicants, only a few of whom sucressfuliy passed the examination. One of these,of course, was Dr. Hall, who took the first honors of his class on graduation from the medical college at Augusta.
