THE GAME DAWS OF GEORGIA.
Hunting Season Began Nov. 1—Soino
Daws Concerning Huntsmen.
An Aot to protect insectivorous nnd
singing birds, nnd game nnd ani-
mnls in this stnte, to prohibit the
hiking or destroying the eggs of
game birds, to prohibit the sale or
offering for sale any of said blrdsor
animills during certain seasons, to
make penal the violation of the pro
visions of this Act, tq supersede all
existing laws on the subject of gamo
protection, and for other purposes.
Section 1. Be it ennetod by the Gen
eral Assembly of the state of Georgia,
and it is hereby ennoted by authority
of tile same, That on nnd after the
pnssnge of this Act, it shall be unlaw
ful for any person to shoot, trap, kill,
ensnare, net or destroy in nny manner
any wild turkey,pheasants,quail, part
ridges or nny insectivorous or singing
blrdB, except English sparrows, crows,
larks, rice birds, nlgbt-bnwks, wheat
birds nnd doves, between the 10th day
of Mnroh and 1st day of November.
It shall also be unlawful to shoot,
trap, kill, ensnare, net or in nny man
ner destroy nny doves between tile
loth day of March nnd 1st day of No
vember.
It shall nlsobc unlawful to shoot,
trap, kill, ensnare, net or in nny man
ner destroy any doves between the
10th day of Mnroh nml the 10th day of
August.
It shall also be unlawful for nny
person to remove from tile nests, or in
nny manner destroy the eggs of nny
of the birds protected by tills Aot dur
ing the periods they are so proteoted.
It slinll also bo unlawful for' nny
person to hunt, kill, shoot, wound,
ensnare or in nny manner destroy or
capture any wild deer or fawn be
tween tlie 1st day of January and the
1st day of September.
It shall nlso be unlawful for nny
person to sell or oiler for sale nny
game bird or ,animal, or any part of
either, whether dead or alive, Hint are
proteoted by tills Aet during the pe
riods so proteoted, nnd it shall be
taken and deemed ns prima facie evi
dence of a violation of tile provisions
of this section for any person to be
found ill possession of nny of the ani
mals or birds (or the eggs of birds) dur-
lag the periods in which they are pro
tested by tills Aot; ami nny person or
persons who,,shall violate any of the
provisions of this Aet ns enumerated
ill this section slinll be guilty of a
misdemeanor.
See. 2. Be it further enacted, That
this act slinll supersede all existing
laws on tlie subject of gnme and gnme
protection, nnd shall have a uniform
nnd general application; nnd that all
laws nml parts of laws in confliot with
this Aot be and the same arc hereby
repealed.

BOMB LATER LAWS.
An Aot to make it unlawful for any
person to trap, net, kill or in nny
way take for tlie purpose of sale, ex
cept upon his o\vn land, wild tur
keys, quail, doves or deer, without a
license; to fix a penalty for the vio-
intion of this Aet, and for other
purposes.
Beotion 1. Be it enacted by the Gen
eral Assembly of Georgia, nnd it is
hereby ennoted by authority of the
same, That from nnd after the passage
of this net it shall bs unlawful for any
person to trap, net, kill or ii\ any way
take for the purpose of selling tlie
same, except upon his own land dur
ing the hunting season, wild turkeys,
quail, doves or deer.
See. 2. Be it further ennoted, That
nny person desiring to kill, trap, net
or in any way take for the purpose of
selling the same, except upon his own
land, any of the gnme mentioned in
the foregoing section, shall, before
doing so, pay to tlie treasurer of the
county in wliioh lie desires to kill, net
trap or take such game the sum of 820
and upon the exhibition of such re
ceipt to the ordinary of such county
the ordinary slinll issue to such per
soil a license to kill, trap, net or take
such game in said county for the space
of twelve months from the date of said
license nnd no longer; and suoli per
son at the time of procuring said it
cense shall register his name as a li
censed hunter in a book to be kept for
that purpose by the ordinary. Li
cense shall he procured nnd registra
tion made in each county wherein
said person proposes to carry on said
business, provided that the provisions
of this bill shall not he in effect until
recommended by the grand jury of tho
county desiring it.
See. I). Be it further enacted, That
any person violating the provisions of
this net slmll be punished us for a mis
demeanor.
Sec. 4. That all laws nnd parts of
laws in conflict with this net bo nnd
tlie same arc hereby repealed.

An Act to protect game in this state,
nnd prevent exportation of same be
yond the limits of the state.
Section 1. Be it enacted by the
General Assembly of the State of
Georgia, and it is hereby enacted by
tlie authority of the same, That it
slinll be unlawful for nny person or
persons, firm or corporation to export
or ship, send or carry beyond the lim
its of said state, nny partridge or
quail, at any season of the year.
See. 2. Be it further enacted, Tlmt
itsball bound is hereby declared unlaw
ful for any person or persons within
the limits of said state to net part
ridges or quails at any season of the
year.
Sec. 8. Be it further ennoted, Tlmt
any person violating the provisions of
this Aot, upon conviotion filial! bo
punished as prescribed in section 1030
of volume 5 of the Code of 1805.
Seo. 4. Be it further enacted, Tlmt

IJN1TKD STATES LAW.
Congress also has taken part in tlie
protection of game. Sections one nnd
two of the Act of the last Congress do
not apply to Inter-state commerce, but
to the importation from foreign coun
tries. The other seotions follow:
Seotion 8. Tlmt it shall be unlawful
for any person or persons to deliver to
any common oarrier, or for any com
mon carrier to transport from one
state or territory to unothcr state or
territory, or from tlie District of Co
lumbia or Alaska to any state or terri
tory, or from nny state or territory to
the District of Columbia or Alaska,
nny foreign animals or birds tho im
portation of which is prohibited, or
tlie dead bodies or parts thereof of any
wild animals or birds, where bucIi ani
mals or birds have been killed in vio
lation of tlie law in the state, terri
tory or district in wliloli tho same
were killed. Provided, tlmt nothing
herein shall prevent the transporta
tion of nny dead birds or animals
killed during the senson when tlie
same may bo lawfully captured, nnd
the export of which is not prohibited
by law in tho state, territory or dis
trict in which the same are killed.
Seo. 4. Tlmtnll packages containing
suoli dend animals, birds or pnrts
thereof, when shipped by inter-stnto
commerce, ns provided in section one
of tills Aot, slmll be plainly nnd clearly
marked, so tlmt the name nnd address
of the shipper nnd the nature of the
contents may be readily ascertained
on inspection of tlie outside of sucli
packages. For each evasion or viola
tion of this Aot the shipper shall,
upon conviotion, pay a flue of not ex
ceeding 8200, nnd tlni consignee know
ingly receiving suoh armies so shipped
nnd transported in violation of this
Act slmll, upon conviotion, pny a fine
of not exceeding 8200, and the enrrier
knowingly carrying or transporting
the same slmll, upon conviotion, pny a
line of not exceeding 8200.
Seo. 6. Tlmt all dead bodies, or
parts thereof, of any foreign game
animals, or game or song birds, the
importation of which is prohibited, or
the dead bodies, or pnrts thereof, of
any wild game animals, or gnme or
song birds transported into any state
or territory, or remaining therein for
use, consumption, sale or storage
therein, slmll upon arrival in suoh
stnte or territory be subject to the
operation and effect of the laws of
such state or territory enaoted in the
exercise of its police powers, to the
same extent and in the same manner
as though such animals or birds lind
been produced in suoh state or terri
tory, and slmll not be exempt there
from by reason of being introduced
therein in original pnoknges or other
wise. '
