Peek last Friday, Mrs. F. S. Bunn, Mrs. R. O. Pitts anil Mrs. H. I,. Sewell were appointed to draft resolutions expressive of tho nppreoiatlon of the loss sustained by the Club in the dentil of the late Mrs. R. F. Sims. While this is done liy loving lmiids ami hearts, words but poorly represent the loss to the Club of stioli a brilliant ornament. It is sad beyond expression to speak of Mrs. Sims ns dead—so young, bo much to live for,,and needed by loved ones and friends. Her untimely death is sad, and touches our Hearts, most sorely. It is truly one of God’s mysterious pruvi- donces. Strqng within us Is the wish that Blie oould have been spared to her ohuroli, her town, to hnsbnnd and children, and to ns her friends, but not so. She is gone “To that fair land, upon whoso strand ■No wind ot wintor moans.” We shall miss her from our meetings molded by nature as she was, broad minded, unselfish and generous, of marked intellectuality, a very central figure in every social gathering. Mr. Jones Is a popular young gentleman,, and holds a re sponsible nnd paying position with the coal company operating at Pratt City. Messrs. J. C. Dubose and M. J. Williams, two hustling Marietta gentlemen, have taken charge of the store which they recently pur chased from Bobo JcSimmons. They arfe good, live business men, and Ce dartown gives them the “glad hand.” Miss Martha Adams was one of the charming attendants at tho mar- raige last Wednesday of Miss Bessie Holmes to Mr. J. L. Everett in Ten- nille. Miss Holmes is remembered here as one of the popular guests of Miss Adams last year, and her nup tials last week proved -one of the most brilliant social affairs in many years lor Tennille. Mr. Archibald Morton, a venera. ble citizen, died'yesterday evening of old age, and the burial will prob ably take place this afternoon. Mr. Morton was one of the oldest citi zens ol the county, and was the old est resident of Cedartown, being over 81 years old. He was the father of several children, some living in Polk and others in Texas, and ids death will. be mourned by many. He was a good citizen, an- honest mau and a clever neighbor. Bass, of Rome, the As sistant Grand Master of Georgia Odd Fellows, was here Saturday night, and instituted a lodge ol (hat order. Tho new organization will be known as Cedartown Lodge, No. 73, I. O. O. F. I The lodge starts out with twenty- nine members, and has the prospect of a good number of further acces sions. It is well officered, as follows: , F. H. Hewlett—Noble Grand. J. S. Purcell—Vice Grand. W. Z. Smith—Secretary. T. E. Mason—Treasurer. The Odd Fellows organization Is one ol the oldest, laigest and best in the country, its members being found in every state in the Union. Its sick benefit provisions help to make it especially popular, and the order is certain to gain great strength and influence as a fraternal organiza tion in Cedartown. Mr. Chae. D. Smith, a clever mem ber of the Baugh-ZImraerman band, left Tuesdny to locate in Anniston. He Is a fine musician and a popular gentleman, and his departure is greatly regretted by all who know Mr. C.
