Mr. Calvin Ledbetter came up Sunday from Atlanta to spend a few days with home folks. He returned yesterday to finish up his yeur’s work there in the office of the Penn sylvnniu Insurance Company, but will return to Cedartown after the 1st to accept a position with the popular insurance agency of Ledbet ter & Co. His many friends will be pleased lo learn that he will lie in Cedartown next year. Mr. W. S. Hnneock, a clever citi zen of Cuve Spring who formerly re sided in this vicinity, was in the city Monday. He received condo- I races on every hand on account of the tragic accident which occurred in his household n week ago last Sunday. His seventeen-year-old son was examining a pistol, when it wus accidentally discharged, the hall striking Ids little seven-year-old sis- tnr. Beulah, in the temple. For this reason the title of the Oednrtown Cotton Oil Millais, now changed to the Ce dartown Oil Mills, dropping the “Cotton!’, from the name.. The formal action for this, fol lowing tlio authorization by thb Court for alteration of name in the charter, was taken Thursday at 11 meeting of the hoard of di rectors : J. E. Houseal, presi dent and manager; E. VanWin- klej of Atlanta, vice president; L. S. Ledbetter, secretary and treasurer; E. . T. McGhee,, of Koine, J. A. Wynn and Ed. K. VanWinkle. The mills are haying a very prosperous season, havin';!: secured a largo stock of seed which. they are rapidly turning into valuable seed products. Crnbh was summoned to pass on the body of. an unknown viotim of fout murder last Saturday, the deed having been committed on the Southern railway between Rook- mart and Aragon. The investigation showed the man was shot from the rear with bird shot, the load entering the back nf Lite head at the base of the brain. The victim fell beside the ernssties, and- rolling down an embankment a few feet, the blood stains indicating his struggles The man was an umbrella mender, carrying a satchel of tools,and having j several little trinkets,but bore nothing j on his person to, identify him. .His : pookets were rilled, showing the deed | to have been done for purposes- of robbery, lie was apparently forty years old, and will doubtless carry the mystery of his murder to ihe great beyond.
