Volume 35.
Cedartown, Georgia, Thursday, January 5th, 1922.
, Number 50.
NEW ADMINISTRATION IN CHARGE
Watkins Succeeds Hall as. Mayor —
Good and Chapman New Aldermen.
King out the old—ring in the new
The old year has passed into history
fer another city administration, and
new men assume the helm in our city
affairs.
Dr. H. M. UaU has made a capable
and progressive Chief Executive, and
during his administration Cedartown
has taken probably the longest fqp-
ward step in her history. It was
largely due to his continued and well-
directed efforts that our city limits
were extended —a fact which made
possible our recent bond issue that
promises so much in the way of our
material development. He has paid
particular attention, too, to the,health
conditions and beautification of tho
ciy, and his administration has been
an.era of progress throughout.
Another faithful official retires to
private life in tho person of Mr. Mor
gan E. Brooks, Alderman from the
Second, than whom Cedartown has
never had a more conscientious and
capable Street Commissioner. His
work in. this capacity, will remain to
speak for him during many years to
come.
Mr. O, Y, Rpso retires as Alderman
from the Fifth Ward with an' excel
lent record.
Another good official' whose serv
ices the city loses this year is Mr. J.
L. Cambron, who did not stand &>r
re-election as Chief of Police—a po
sition which he has capnbly filled.
Our mow Mayor, Muj, Homer Wat-
kins, is a gentleman admirably fitted
for taking tho reinB of office! An
■ attorney of high standing and a bus
iness man Of good executive ability,he
has the further advantage of having
served in important capacities over
seas in the World War„whrre he was
decorated for brave and brilliant ser-
Dr. J. W. Good, the new Alderman
from the Second, is one of our lead
ing physicians, and has had valuable
Aldermsnic experience. Mr. C. B.
Chapman, of the Fifth, is one of our
best railroad men, holding positions
of influence in the railway organiza
tions. Both are substantial and pro
gressive citizens.
The re-election of our efficient City
Clerk, J. C. Walker, was unanimous,
as a matter of course.
The election of Mr. W. T. York as
Chief of Police is generally commen
ded. He has made a line record in
that office heretofore and as a mem
ber of the County Police. The Coun
cil has given him a good force of of
ficers.
