Having completed thc new bridge
on the Cave Spring road, Road Su
perintendent T. P. Knight began
work Friday on the new highway
from Cedartown to the Harnlson
county lino.
And everyone is glad our County
Commissioners have replaced thc old
single-barreled make-shift acrossWig
Cedar with a real bridge. TheTeld
one wtas not only inconvenient hut
dnngcrous, while the now one is wide
enough for two vehicles to pass, is
well built, and has good approaches.
Alabama farmers who haul their cot
ton to Cedartown will especially ap
preciate the change.
With the coming of good road-
building weather, Mr. Knight will
push work on the new highway as
rapidly as possible, and will have it
ready for Haralson to connect up as
soon ns she can get ready to use lier

This highway from Chattanooga

very important one, and Cedartown
is indeed fortunate in being on this
route.

Troops to be Organized in All
J Parts of County.
The Boy Scouts is one of the most
helpful organizations in the world,
and every boy between the ages of
12 and 18 should belong to it.
Hon. W. W. Mundy is doing splen
did work as chairman for Pollc, and
troops will be organized at once
throughout thc county—6 in Cedar
town, 2 in Rockmnrt,.2 In Aragon,
and at other points where ns many as
sixteen boys of suitable age and char
acter can be organized.
Executive Secretary Gray spent
tile first of the week here, and en
listed all thc churches of Cedartown
in the movement. It is entirely un
denominational, but is one in which
every church should be interested.
The pastor and two committeemen
from each church will take part in
! the work of organization, and they
will meet at 4.30 p. m. next Monday
ut the Presbyterian church.
Thc boys of the community will be
called together soon for organization,
and all parenta should take an active
interest in thh gfeat movement.
Another Ball Team.
The Georgia State League has ceas
ed to function, but Cedartown is not
going to be without base ball this
season. Our High School teSm is
winning laurels, thc Boys’ Club has
organized a good team, und now we
have the Cedartown Cotton & Export
Co. team.
Thc new club went Saturday' to
Cave Spring for u game, and won it
by a score of 8 to 7, with Perry and
Carr hh their battery,
j Cave Spring comes over for a ro-

It at 3 p. m. at the West avenue

WIN THEM BOTH
Our High School team went on
the warpath last week, and as a re
sult have added a couple of very de
sirable scalps to their string.
They wont to Rome Friday and
played the Darlington School on their
home grounds, and the Darlingtons
couldn’t do a thing with Hunt and
Knowles. The best proof of this
statement is the score, which was 20
to 2 in our .favor.
Then the Berry School team came
hero Saturday, and with McElveen
and Knowlus as our battery we won
7 to 0 —which was Homo-victory over
thc Btrong visiting team.
Tomorrow our boya arc scheduled
to play Rome High in Rome. ,
