Death of Mr .Taylor at Habira.
Mr. J . W. Taylor of Hahira,
who had been sick for a long
while, died at the home of his son
in-law, Dr. Owens, last Friday
night. Mr. Taylor it will be re¬
membered by readers of the
Times, went to Atlanta a few
months ago and underwent an op¬
eration for the removal of one of
his kidneys, as the last hope of a
baffling disease Which attacked
him a year or more ago, The op¬
eration Was apparently Successful
and When Mr. Taylor returned
home some six weeks ago it was
thought that he Would finally re^
gain his health. His vital forces
had been expended, however, and
he gradually declined until the
end came,
Mr, Taylor Was Well known by
a great many of our citizens, and
Was universally liked, His re-
mains were carried to Wilming¬
ton, N. C, for burial.—* Valdosta

pound turnip raised by Mr. C A
DeVane. It is as Inrge as the
average size watermelon and ban
seven distinct tops, There is no
note of explanation, but those
who have seen the products of the
soil of South Georgia around
Adel are prepared to believe that
it is a specimen of what is grown
in the entire patch. Adel is in
Berrien county, a section noted
for its fertility of soil and excel¬
lent climate.

“I have for several years had
in contemplation the establish¬
ment of a weekly newspaper and
this seems an opportune time for
undertaking it.
“Intending to devote my life
to the study and discussion of
public question. I have chosen
method because it w ill best ac¬
complish the purpose which I
have in view. Through such a
paper I shal 1 be able to keep in
touch with social, economic and
political problems. The paper
will at the same time provide
an income sufficenfc for un¬
necessary needs and this kind of
work will allow* me more time
with my family than I have been
able to enjoy for sever! years
past.
I expect to lecture occasionally
especially ijj college towns where
I can speak to students. But my
principal Work will be done with
the pen, or perhaps I should say
with the pencil.
“The paper will be called The
Commoner and will defend the
principles set forth in the Kansas
City platform. Tile first issue will
appear in January. 1 shall be ed¬
itor and publisher. -
The Commoner, W. J. Bryan
editor and publisher, will
Jan. 20, and will be $1.00 per year
Tiie News will give clubbing rates
with the Commoner.' The two
