the home of the bride near
city Sunday afternoon at two
o’clock in the presence of a very
large crowd 0 f Thu ci r-
emonv, which took place on the
veranda, was performed bv Rev.
W. W. Stewart, of the Methodist
enurch, and was couched in chaste
and exquisite language.
Tho bride is u daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. J. If. Chesnutt and ii a
young lady of tine Christian char¬
acter, and is a devoted church
worker. She has been u popular
teacher in the schools of the
county and has a large circle of
friends.
The groom is a prominent tur¬
pentine man, being a member of
I he firm of lveifl tfc Bullock, doing
business aU»ut fin miles south of
Nashville. He came to Berrien
from South Carolina several years
ngo and has made many friends
here.
The couple were the recipients
of a large number of handsome
wedding presents.
They begin life together under
the most favorable auspices and
with the best wishes of all.

bride in a charming young lady
and the groom is a sterling young
fanner. Many friends wish them
much happiness.
Young Couple Eloped.
Moultrie, Ga., March 14—Miss
Annie Norman, the 16-vear-old
daughter of Hon. and Mrs. J. B.
Norman, Jr., of Obe, and Mr.
Charles Beall, of this place,
eloped from Sunday school Sun¬
day afternoon and w^-re married
here by Justice Horner last night.

of the bride, is quite prominent
in btate politic--. He is an ex-
senator from this district.

ANOTHER TRAIN WRECKED.

A freight train was wrecked
Saturday afternoon near the plan-
ning mill h(re. A car jumped
the track, but just what caused it
is not known. Only two cars
were damaged -a box and a

Farm Work Being Pushed.
The fine weather during the

farmers a splendid opportunity

have not been slow to take ad¬
vantage of it. In every direction
reports are to the effect that the
work is a good deal in advance of

have crops joining up Mr. A. W.
Parrish has some corn that- is very
pretty and there are some others
who have the same.
A gentleman who returned
from Hamilton county, Fla.,
Monday says that farm work down
that way is in butter condition
than f r a long time, and the pros¬
pect seems to be bright m all
sections.
Stores at Preston Destroyed.
Americas, Ga., March 13. —The
business portion of Preston, the
county site of Webster county,
was practically wiped out by fire
this morning.
The losses are: Cold) & Mont¬
gomery, nearly $6,000; Sapleton-
Xicholson Com puny, $1,500; J. L.
Horne. $1,500; Welch & Mtiors
and R. L. Nicholson also lost
heavily.
The town has no fire protection.
There was little, if any insurance
the property destroyed.
Two white mfii have been ar¬
rested charged with the crime.

TWO NEW PARSONAGES.
iiahira and Cecil are Building Metho¬
dist Preachers Home-,
there has been talk of a Meth¬
odist parsonage being built at
Hahira for some little time and
lust week Cecil decided to build
one also. Both places are in the
work, but it seems that
each om has a laudable ambition
to have their preacher live with
them and it is understood work
was begun on both of them this
week.
It is understood that the houses
will cost $'500 or $600 each. The
work will probably be divided
next year if not befo-e.
A Successful Operation.
I'en MuCranie, the fourteen-
year-old son of Mr. Neal Me-
Cranie, who lives west of Adel,
has suff ered a good deal for tho
last year or two with somethin*,
like rheumatism. It began in tin
lower part of his body an l grad
ually worked up until it settled
in the top of his head. lie ha-
been very ill at times and it was
decided to have an operation per¬
formed and on Sunday Dr. Wor-
sham, of Sparks, removed a good
deal of very poisonous matter
from the lad's head. Thu opera¬
tion was entirely successful and
it is believed the young man will ,
now get well.
Father and Children Burned.
Rogers. Ark., March 13.—Fer¬
nando Walters and his three eld¬
est child reeii were burned to
death to-day in his home near
Garfield. A brother of Mr. Wal¬
ters, aged 15 years, was so badly
burned that bis lif- is despaired of.
The house caught fire while all
were -steep.
Walters was a prominent far¬
mer and fruit grower.
Presiding Elder Morrison.
Presiding Elder Morrison will
preach at Sparks next Sunday
morning and at Nashville Sunday
night. He will hold the quarter¬
ly conference at the latter place
Monday morning.

THE WIND WAS FURIOUS.
Mach Fencing and Many Trees Were
Blown Down Monday.
Before day Monday morning a
heavy ram and high wind visited

Out east of Ad«.-l the wind did
a good deal of damage, blowing
down a crib of Mr. E. E. Devane
and , also laying flat considerable
fencing of several gentlemen.
West of Adei Mr. Mann Tucker
was the heaviest loser from the
storm. A great deal of his

of his house.
Mr. H. K. Hutchinson came in

mrted that the roofs of one or
nore houses had been taken off a

Griner is said to have been one

The only damage done in tlie
city was the blow ing down of a
frame of a small house, which
was being erected in the western
part of town.
