The Taylor County (Ga.) News, Friday, October 12, 1962 Political Announcement Dear Voter: On October 16 the new 17th Senatorial District of Georgia will select a Senator. This district consists of Schley, Ma rion, Macon, Taylor, Talbot, Harris and Upson Counties. A group of outstanding people from each of these counties, included among them some seven or eight prospective candidates, have approached me and requested that I offer as a candidate for this new senatori al post. In each instance the I may save you up to $ 125 on financing and insuring your next car Ask me about the State Farm BANK PLAN for fi nancing new or used cars. J. ED BELL 'State Farm Agent Across from Post Office THOMASTON, GEORGIA (or more) gentlemen considering running themselves proposed not to run if I would agree to seek the office. By virtue of my interest in government and feeling that my past experience on the State level would inure to the benefit of our section, I now offer my candidacy. It is my belief that our people in this district de serve a man with experience and understanding to better serve us in this new organiza tion of the State government. If you will recall 1 sponsored legislation during my term of office as Lieutenant Governor to restore legislative indepen dence. Included in this legis lation were the new budgetary laws. It is important that we have people in our legislative branch in the future, both fa miliar and interested in com pleting this program initiated by me. Secondly, it is to our benefit and good business for our district to have the ■strongest voice possible repre senting us. It is extremely emportant that we present a unified front by casting a large vote. 1 want all Georgians to know that when I rise to speak that I speak for a unified people. Won’t you please vote and en courage our friends and neigh bors to do likewise! Sincerely, GARLAND T.
