That cloud of dust you saw
rising from Butler High last
Friday was not a dust storm as
some were led to believe. It
was just the students, busy with
mops, pails, dust cloths,
brooms and other cleaning arti
cles, hunting down every little
speck of dust and dirt. This
was the climax of the "clean
up” campaign sponsored by the
FBLA in preparation for re-
evaluation. A first prize of
$3.00 for the cleanest room
went to Mrs. Garrett’s room
and a second prize of $2.00
went to Mr. Davis’s room.

collected $30.53, which will be
used to aid children in 72 coun

need for training in a trade
was a topic of special interest
to those attending the meeting.
The annual staff is beginning
its busy year. Please remem

It seems as if one thing
after another comes along at

go, the busier we become.

Martha Clark, Carolyn Gault-

Richard Allen, a forward on
the basketball team, takes
mechanics as a hobby. He is
15 years old and in the sopho
more class. He is also a mem
ber of the 4-H. Richard plans
to attend college and become a
mechanical engineer.
the story of the Grasshopper and
the ant—I’m sure you’ve all
heard it. The Grasshopper was
a very lazy fellow, while the
ant worked hard laying up sup
plies for winter. Well, the
Juniors represent the Ant.
They’ve just begun a new pro
ject. This time they are selling
Butler High Charm Bracelets.
Let's be sure and give them our
support!
For the second time in the
history of Butler High School,
it will be a center for the Scho
lastic Aptitude Test on Decem
ber 1 from 8:30 to 12:30o'clock.
The SAT Test must be taken
by all students who plan to
enter college. This can be taken
by Juniors as well as Seniors.
Achievement and Writing
Sample Tests will also be given
which last from 1:30 to ap
proximately 5:45 o'clock.
The school pictures are
finally here. Everyone was
waiting so hopefully to see how
they turned out. As a whole
they are very good. The Seniors
especially are proud of theirs.
Here are some important
dates to remember: Re-eval
uation, Nov. 5 and 6; American
Education Week, Nov. 11-17;

Atientionl! All basketball
fans. It's time to get in the
mood for good old basketball.
The Tigers and Tigereties
of Reynolds High challenged
some of the "oldies" of RHS to
a basketball game.
The "oldies" may have aged
a little and may have gained
a pound or two, but they still
seem to think they are frisky
enough to play ball. (Let’s see
if these old "pros" are as
good as they think they are.)
The Tigers and Tigerettes,
on the other hand are young,
and full of plenty of "get up
and go". The playersrange
from the lowely freshmen to the
sophisticated Seniors.
The game will be held on Sa
turday night, November 3, at
7:00. Season tickets will be
good for the game.
Friday afternoon the Tigers
and Tigereties played their an
nual "soap games’’. The games
are played each year to pro
cure soap for the high school
and gym
Friday was the first time
the student body got to see the
two teams in action. Ofcourse,
the two gmes were all in fun,
but the general feeling all a-
round school was that the teams
looked pretty good and that in
regular season competition they
would make a good showing for
our school.
The Reynolds High School
trio sang at the GEA meeting
held at the Flint EMC building.
Mrs. Hazel Lewis was the guest
speaker for the meeting.
The Senior class toured the
South Georgia Trade and Vo
cational School in Smericus
Wednesday afternoon. After the
tour, they attended the College
Day program at the First
Methodist Church. They were
accompanied by Mrs. Roger,
their English Instructor.
The Halloween carnival was
very sucessful. The Kings
and Queens for the rooms
brought in $505.23. Half of the
money is to be retained by the
classes and the other half plus
$425, made at the carnival it
self, is to be used by the PTA
for school projects—specifi
cally for the equipping of the
science lab.
Julian Whatley was the
Kiwanis guest at the Key Club
meeting. The club discussed
plans lor getting the tennis
court reactivated.
A very informative and in
teresting fire safety program
was presented by Mr. Owens
and Mr. Wiggins of the State
Fire Marshall’s Department on
Wednesday afternoon at school.
Dance every Saturday night
to the music of Comer Smith
and his Rhythm Boys at the

Reynolds from 8:30 to 12:00.
