Mrs. Bernice Hill spent a few days last week in Jonesboro visiting her daughter, Mrs. Neil Oliver. Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Horton of Roanoke Rapids, N. C., spent a few days last week with their mother, Mrs. C. Hoats. Mrs. Hoats returned home with them Sunday to spend the winter. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Windham and Mr. Warren Windham spent last weekend in Atlanta the guests of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Windham. Mr. and Mrs. James Gray, Mr. and Mrs. Gann Nelson and Mrs. Ernest Childree attended the funeral of Mr. Herbert Ful ler in Columbus. Dr. and Mrs. C. E. Whatley attended the annual conference of the Georgia School Board Members and School Admini strators which met in Athens, Nov. 1-3. Capt. and Mrs. Bill Robinson and boys of Fort McPherson were the guests of their pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Bond, for the weekend. Miss Aurelia Sawyer and Mr. Tom Sawyer spent the weekend in Nashville, Tenn. with Mrs. Hugh Sawyer. They were ac companied home by Mrs. Sawyer’s three little girls who will be with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Sawyer. They will be joined later by Mrs. Hugh Sawyer and the two younger children. Hayes of Columbus will be the guest speaker at the Mt. Olive Church, Nov. 11, at the a. m. and p. m. services. Mr. and Mrs. H. M. Lee and Mrs. Ganie Leistner of Santa Ana, California, have left for their homes after spending two weeks in the home of their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. George Lee. BUTLER by Lynette James Mr. and Mrs. H. E. Childres had as their dinner guests on Sunday, Mr. Homer W. Cox Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Homer Cox Jr., Wayne, Danny and Wesley, Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Cox and Miss Lorena Fielder of Junc tion City. The occasion was to celebrate Mr. Cox’s birthday which will be Oct. 31. He will be 85 years old. Mrs. W. H. Pye of Griffin spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. H. G. Pye. Mrs. R. P. McGruffin is improving but still not able to be out following her fall some time ago. Mrs. Bobby James is still in serious condition but reported to be improving at the St. Francis Hospital in Columbus. Mrs. Martha Glasure and Fred Adams were the Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Luke Adams. Mr. and Mrs. Luke Adams will leave Wednesday by plane for Boston, Mass, to visit their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Benny Adams and sons of North Truro, Cape Cod. They will be gone for several weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Edward Davis and Mr. and Mrs. Walter O’Neal attended the 15th annual Law Day festivities at Mercer University on Friday. Of special interest to the group was the luncheon address by Judge Griffin Bell, one of the judges of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Judicial Circuit.
