The Thanksgiving holidays
brought joyful tidings to the
Seniors. They picked out their
invitations. The invitation has a
gold seal with a black "B” in
the center.
Of course the loudest noise
came from the Juniors who
ordered class rings.
During the Thanksgiving holi
days the FHA produced some
hillbilly fun with their “Hoot
and Hollow Frolic.” Hay and
pumpkins were just part of
the decorations that gave the
lunch room a barn-like ap
pearance.
Some wonderful improve
ments are being made around
Butler High. The parking areas
in front of the building, the
lunch room and the gymnasium

Cement walks from the front
of the building to the gym and
to the lunch room will great
ly aid the students on rainy
days. The gym floor has also
just been refinished. All of
these improvements are really
appreciated.
At a recent meeting of the
Future Business Leaders, pro

year were presented to the
members. One of the most
interesting is the December
program; the members will
trim a tree with silver for a
needy family..
The Betas organized com
mittees at their meeting which
was presided overby Jerry All—
mon. Invitations to join will
soon be issued.
One of the highlights around
the school is the Christmas
decorations Lhe homemaking
students make and use in the
homemaking department. We
are all looking forward to see
ing their new ideas this year.

In Homemaking
The contribution of resource
people who are experts in their
field is recognized as one of
the most valuable assets to any
educational program.
Homemaking is a subject area
in which such help is given
by these persons.
Recent visitors to the Butler
Homemaking Department have
been Mrs. Ruth Turk, who
demonstrated some of the tech-
nigues of drapery making to
the senior girls and Mrs. Ber-
naline Gilson, who talked to the
eighth grade about cosmetics
and band and nail care. Using
one of the students as a model
she gave a professional mani
cure.
Last week Miss Jane Wil
son, home economist for the
Georgia Power Company, spent
a part of two days in the home
making department. She talked
with the eighth grade girls on
proper lighting for the home
and assembled a reading lamp
which the power company sells
at a minimum cost. This lamp
has been purchased by a number
of students since it was first
offered for sale in the fall of
1961.
The seniors enjoyed watching
Miss Wilson prepare a break
fast and a dinner in one class
period. For the eighth grade
she explained the use and care
of the electric range.
