The ieguiar monthly meeting
of the Gordon-Carson Chapter,
U. D. C. was held at the home
of Mrs. H. Thad Crawley,
Thursday, January 24, with the
president, Mrs. E. B. Swear
ingen, presiding. Reports of
the recent Executive Board
meeting at Calloway Gardens
were given by Mrs.
Swearingen, Mrs. S. J.
Tankersley and Mrs. C. H.
Neisler.

trict Meeting to be held in
Columbus on February 7, with
Mrs. Gordon Cumboa as Dis
trict Chairman.
The historian, Mrs. C. G.
Elder, presented Mrs. D. W.
Harp, program leader, who
gave an interesting talk on
the three Confederate heroes
whose birthdays are in January,
Gen. Lee, Gen. Jackson and
Admiral Raphael Semmes.
At the conclusion of the pro
gram, the hostess, assisted by
Mrs. C. H. Neisler, served cof
fee with salad and toasted nuts.

Callahan for the monthly meet
ing. Mrs. Zack R. McCorkle
was co-hostess.
The meeting was called to
order by Mrs. Callahan, presi
dent, who gave the devotional
with Mrs. D. M. Harris lead
ing the prayer.
After the brief business ses
sion, Mrs. Elizabeth Cooper
spoke on "Home Management”
and showed slides on this sub
ject.
During the social hour, the
hostess served a sweet course
to her twelve guests.

The Woman’s Missionary
Union of the Mauk Baptist
Church met on Tuesday after
noon at the home of Mrs. Mary
Ann Waller. Mrs. Waller, pre
sided over the business session.
Mrs. M. B. Pittman Jr. was
in charge of the program on
"Christian Witnessing" and
taking part on the program
were Mrs. Evelyn Rustin and
Mrs. Ruth Pike.
Mrs. Evelyn Williams gave
the devotional and Mrs. Hinton
Woodall led in the prayer.
During the business session,
a study course was planned
and set L&r Tuesday, at 2:30
p. m. at the Mauk BaptistChurch
with Mrs. L. R. Pike teach
ing the book.
