1967 fax Levy
WHEREAS, on September 5, 1967, the Commissioners of Roads
and Revenue of Taylor County, Georgia did fix and ordain the Tax
Levy for the year 1967, and
WHEREAS, it now appears that an error was made in fixing the
levy for School Purposes in the County and for the needs of the
Board of Education to pay principal and interest on the bonded
indebtedness.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Commissioners of
Roads and Revenue of Taylor County, Georgia that the tax levy
aforesaid be and the same is hereby repealed and declared Null
and Void and that the Tax Levy for the year 1967 be as follows:
STATE OF GEORGIA
COUNTY OF TAYLOR
IT APPEARING that the undersigned Commissioners of Roads
and Revenue of Taylor County, Georgia, after considering into
the needs of the County that a levy of Fourteen (14) mills or $14.00
on the One Thousand Dollars ($1000.00) of taxable property for
County Purposes will be necessary for the year 1967.
IT FURTHER APPEARING, by recommendation of the Taylor
County Board of Education that a levy of Seventeen (17) mills or
$17.00 per $1000.00 of taxable property will be necessary in said
County for School maintenance and support of Education as pro
vided by law.
IT FURTHER APPEARING, by recommendation of the Taylor
County Board of Education that it is necessary to make a further
levy for the purpose of retiring the bonded indebtedness and to
pay the interest thereon, of ONE (I) mill on the gross digest of
the taxable property of said County.
NOW THEREFORE, IT IS CONSIDERED, ORDERED AND AD
JUDGED, that the several tax levies enumerated above and here
inafter for the purposes stated be and the same are hereby
levied on all of the taxable properties of Taylor County, Georgia
for the year 1967 and that the same be collected by the Tax Com
missioner of Taylor County, Georgia, which levy for County pur
poses is specified as follows:
1. To pay the expenses of administration of the County Govern
ment, to include administrative expense, general expense, main
tenance expenses of the Courts, Tax Commissioner and Tax
Assesors and the maintenance and repair of the County Proper
ty, planning and development and employees pensions, a levy of
Three and one-half (3 1/2) Mills.
2. To provide for payment of principa 1 and interest of any debt
of the County and to provide a sinking fund therefor, a levy of One
and Three-Quarters ( 1-3/4) Mills.
3. For Public Health Purposes in said County, and for the col
lection and preservation of records of vital statistics, a levy of
One-Half (1/2) Mill.
4. To pay and maintain Office of County Agricultural and Home
Demonstration Agents, a levy of One-Half (1/2) Mill.
5. To provide for payment of Old-Age Assistance and Child
Welfare to aged persons and under-privileged children in need,
and for the payment of assistance to needy blind, and other wel
fare benefits, a levy of Two and One-Half ( 2-1/2) Mills.
6. To pay sheriff and deputies, and the upkeep of prisoners and
to provide for the expense of litigation, a levy of Two (2) Mills.
7. To provide for fire protection of forest lands and for the fur
ther conservation of natural resources, a levy of One-Half (1/2)
Mill.
8. To provide for buildirg and maintaining a system of County
roads, and bridges, for construction of new roads and bridges
and to maintain a public works camp, a levy of Two and Three-
Quarters (2-3/4) Mills.
TOTAL M1LLEAGE FOR ALL COUNTY PURPOSES, INCLUDING
SUPPORT OF SCHOOLS AND PAYMENT OF PRINCIPAL AND IN
TEREST OF SCHOOL BONDED INDEBTEDNESS A LEVY OF
THIRTY TWO (32) MILLS.
IT FURTHER APPEARING, that the Governor of Georgia by Ex
ecutive Order, dated May 29, 1967, has levied a tax on all tax
able property of the State of Georgia erf One-Fourth (1/4) Mill,
and Five (5) Mills on the full market value of the shares of the
stockholders of Banks, Banking Associations, Building and Loan
Associations, Savings and Loan Associations, etc. IT IS HEREBY
CONSIDERED, ORDERED AND ADJUDGED, that the Tax Com
missioner of Taylor County, Georgia collect such levy in accor
dance with the Executive Order of the Governor of Georgia.
IT IS FURTHER ORDERED, that the above and foregoing levy
for the year 1967 be spread upon the minutes of this Board, posted
and published as required by law.
All other levies or orders for taxation for the year 1967 be and the
same are hereby repealed.
SO ORDERED this the 11th day of September 1967.
