Our Schools Month, Taylor
County Primary School sec
ond grade students in Mrs.
Lori Peed's music class
wrote about their thoughts

be a drop-box set up outside the
Elections office for those who
want to personally deliver their

The SkillsUSA club at South
Georgia Technical College
(SGTC) recently earned rec
ognition for one of the largest
membership increases in the
state. Under the guidance of
SGTC SkillsUSA advisor and
Assistant Vice President of
Student Affairs Vanessa Wall,
59 additional students joined
the club compared to last year,
good for the third largest in
crease in Georgia. The club
also earned Level 1 Quality
Chapter Status in the
SkillsUSA Chapter Excell ence
program,
SkillsUSA is a partnership
of students, teachers, and in
dustry representatives work
ing together to ensure America
has a skilled work force. It is a
national nonprofit organiza
tion serving teachers, high
school and college students
who are preparing for careers
in trade, technical, and skills
service occupations, including
health occupations. The Skills
USA program hosts local,
state, and national competi
tions for students to showcase
their skills learned through
hands-on training in the class
room.
With over 200 diplomas, de
grees, and technical certifi
cates of credit, SGTC can help
you get started on your own
path to a successful career.

with social distancing, your lo
cal elections office has been
closed, but 1 am in the office
each day, and I am answering
questions by phone and email.
With the Absentee Applica
tions, five been receiving them
by email, fax, and mail. Keep
them rolling in! I've received
over 800 applications already.
Your ballots will be mailed out
starting April 22nd, The start
dates of Advanced Voting
started before the Sheiter-in-
Place was over, so Secretary
Rafiensperger has postponed
the Primary Election as late as
possible and pushed it back
until June 9, Advance Voting
will start May 18 (as of right
now). We will have the normal
3 weeks of advance voting prior
to the Election Day. This will
give ample opportunity to re
quest an absentee ballot, and
our local candidates will have
more opportunity to campaign.
