The Taylor County News Calendar Girl for April is Eboni
Woodard, Eboni is a senior at Taylor County High School,
where she is a Gold Card recipient, an Honor Graduate, and is
a dual enrollment stud&Rtat South Georgia Technical College*
She r^eived her CNA license through dual enrollment her
sophomore year. Eboni earned the rank of Lieutenant in JROTC
and served as Charlie Co. Commander. She was co-captain of
the basketball cheerleaders ami is a member of Student Coun
cil, Key Club, the Prom Committee, FBLA, Skill sUSA, and Beta
Club. Following graduation, she plans to attend Columbus
State University to pursue a degree in Nursing. She is a mem
ber of Aft. Git lard Baptist Church. Eboni is the daughter of
Macky and Danell Woodard and has two siblings? Joshua and

Mack and Marie Woodard of Roberta. The Calendar Girl is a

The Thy lor County News Calendar Guy for April is Jy'kel Tho
mas. Jy'kel is a senior at Taylor County High School, where he
is a REACH Scholar and Honor Graduate. His favorite sub
jects are anatomy and physiology. He loves listening to differ
ent types of music, playing basketball, and spending time with
fatnily and friends. Following graduation he plans to attend
Albany State University to pursue a degree in Physical Therapy.
Jy'kel is the son of Valerie Bias ingame and Johnny Cook. His
grandparents are Willie Thomas and the late Sarah Thomas
and David and Christine Townes, The Calendar Guy is a
month ty feature of The Taylor County News and Taylor Conn ty
High School. Calendar Guys are chosen based on academics,
extracurricular activities, personality, and character.

Currently there are 17 con
firmed cases of COVID-19 in
Taylor County, and there a re
no positive cases of COVID-
19 at Taylor County Health
& Rehabilitation in Butler,
and staff and the Georgia
National Guard are doing
everything possible to keep it
that way. Last week, per
Governor Brian Kemp’s or
ders, National Guardsmen
arrived at the facility to assist with sanitation. In addition, four rooms have been transitioned into a negative pressure
area for isolation, if needed. Taylor County Health and Rehabilitation is prepared to accept new admissions in the event
that hospitals in Georgia become overwhelmed with a surge of patients. (Continued on page 9)
Three Juveniles Leave Georgia Center For Youth And
Burglarize A Residence & New Providence Baptist Church
On April 14th, at approxi
mately 2 a m., it was reported
to the Taylor County Sheriff’s
Office that three juveniles left
the Georgia Center for Youth

school. Plans to provide dis
tance learning will be ongoing

The State Complete Count
Committee continues its push
to get Georgians to respond to
Census 2020. Currently, the
state’s response of 49% trails
the national response rate of
52%. They are urging Geor
gians to go online and fill out
their census forms at
2020census .gov. The process is
simple and Lakes less than 10
minutes. “We are urging all
Georgians to take a few min
utes out of their day to impact
the next decade of federal fund
ing and representation in Con
gress and in Georgia,” said
this information, the three ju
veniles were entered into the
statewide database as missing
j uveniles.
On April 14th, at. approxi
mately 2:3f> p.m,, the Taylor
learning packets for those stu
dents without internet connec
tivity. Your child’s teacher will
provide guidance and support
for the remainder of the school
year. You are encouraged to
reach out to your child’s teacher
by email if you have questions
or concerns.
The schools will utilize the

Bureau has launched a new
initiative called the Household
Pulse Survey, The U.S. Census
Bureau will contact 13,8 mil
lion homes over the next 12
weeks via email or text to mea
sure employment, spending,

tion disruptions, and physical/
mental wellbeing during the

County Sheriff s Office received
a call that a residence, located
at 299 Hicks Rd., had been bro
ken into. The Taylor County
Sheriff’s Office, assisted by the
Butler Police Department, re
scheduled times to clean out
lockers, retrieve any personal
items from the classrooms, pick

According to Reynolds Police
Chief Lonnie J. Holder, on April
22nd, the Reynolds Police De
partment responded to a call
from a resident who stated that
a white male, with brown hair
and brown eyes was at the door
of the residence saying some
one was trying to kill him.
When the police arrived on
scene, Ryan Clark, a 31 year
old male, fled into the swamp
near the former Spiiene
Manfacturing building. The
Reynolds Police gave chase and
searched for Clark for around
three hours.
On April 23rd, Clark’s family
filed a missing person report.
Clark's last known address was
in Thomaston.
If anyone has information
concerning the \vhereabouts of

While responding to the call,
a juvenile was observed stand
ing in the doorway of New
Providence Baptist Church,
holding a firearm. The
Sheriffs Office was able to cap
ture the three juveniles and
take them into custody.
